CS:GO on Linux, micro lag/stutter
Hi,

I'm running Steam on Ubuntu 14.10 64-bit and I'm wondering what other people think about the performance of CS:GO?

When I start CS:GO it starts to stutter in the menu. The music and the graphic will hang for a second and then resume. This will happen as soon as I try to do anything in the menu.
When I start a game it's the same thing in the beginning.
When the game is started it doesn't happen that much more than lag here and there.
Under Windows it runs just fine.

So my question is. Do other people on Linux/SteamOS have the same problem with CS:GO or is it my computer?
I'm running the latest Nvidia driver (even tried the Beta) with no result.
I have a GTX 560 and I've set pretty much all settings to low in CS:GO.

I'm thinking about upgrading my hardware but I'm just curious about how other Linux users experience this.

Are there other stuff I can do to optimize the performance of CS:GO?

Thanks for any reply and suggestions.

cs:go takes a fairly good pc
what are your specs?

gtx560 should do ok with it at mid-higher settings
try lowering aa/af

I got 6GB RAM, i7 930 2.8GHz and everything installed on a SSD.
Everything runs smooth in Windows without any problems, it's just in Linux that the performance is not as good.

Is it only this game or other games too?

No, pretty much just this game. Although I don't play many fps-games but I haven't noticed anything like this in other games.
Oh well, it might just be my computer that can't handle it.

updated drivers?

If it is only this game, this is a game-specific problem. Post in the game forum.

Hey Patric, did you find a solution to your problem? I have the same issue only with CS:GO, but can't find any way to fix it.

Thanks for your answer. I didn't have any luck with fixing that problem. I've tried two different linux distros and different nvidia drivers but the problem is still there. I have to stay with Windows for gaming. I didn't get any help from different linux communities either. I'm sad it is that way.. Gaming is not for linux and linux is not for gaming.

What graphics card do you have? I have a GTX 560. Maybe it's better with the newer series.
