forced chargeback
if i chargeback something (lets say prime for cs2) on my card
what are the punishments for this action? i dont care what the enforcement action is, as long as i get the cash back im cool (account termination, account suspension, IP-ban, VAC ban, i dont care)

as long as its not a legal court hearing or valve's CIA up on my front porch-step in the morning, im totally fine

Why exactly are you claiming the charge was fraudulent?
just to get my money back, prime was not worth it
That's not a fraudulent charge, then. Be aware that when you want a chargeback, you are telling your bank that you did not authorize the charge, and that someone else made the charge instead without your okay.

Most banks will investigate your claim, and contact the other company to determine if it was indeed fraud. When your bank looks at your history of making charges to Steam and sees that you have made several in the past and only dispute this one, it will raise questions.

Be aware that you claiming a charge was fraudulent and reporting it as such to the bank when it is not fraudulent is a crime in most jurisdictions. Chargebacks are not an "I want a refund" process, that's something between you and the merchant. Chargeback is you claiming that something criminal happened and you were the victim of a crime.

So it really comes down to your personal morals and your willingness to commit criminal acts on the chance that your bank will ignore your history of making these payments to Steam and then charge Steam a fee... Just because you have buyers remorse.

you're one wise fella going this far to talk me out of a illegal crime. I thank you sincerely for changing the scope of view on this post.

i shall now know this knowledge to not f**k around with very enforceful actions just because of a mood or feeling. had i know this, i could totally saved the time of my life doing something actually productive.

the fact i even have 14 fraudulent charges go successful is INSANELY WILD CONSIDERING HOW ITS ILLEGAL. (tho i never gotten any action enforced about chargebacks, except my account being deleted on a shoddy lego game (but it was totally not because of a chargeback, but rather of my actions i did on the platform for the past 8 years, the chargeback was a nail in the coffin im assuming what was the lethal blow to the account but my ass is ranting))

anyways, rant ending; the world needs more people like you mate
A chargeback should be for unauthorized purchases of if the merchant didn't deliver the item and refuses to refund. Buying a game or prime, then charging back just because one doesn't qualify for a refund, is considered "friendly fraud" as it was a legit purchase and the user got what they had paid for.

Not all banks look into it as it is often less costly for them to simply allow the chargeback, then to investigate it. The merchant can contest the chargeback, an investigation, or at least someone at the bank, may ask questions and look into things.

A chargeback cost a company more then the amount that was paid as well. Can be as little as and $20 or higher then $200, per a chargeback, as well as effect their credit rating, hence why such things are so strongly discouraged.

Not to mention what has been stated in this thread CAN be used as evidence against someone. Admitting to multiple such chargbacks and all.

There is a story of the boy who cried wolf.....

How that might play out here is, you will really NEED to do a chargeback one day, for the REAL reasons of doing a chargeback, and it might all go sideways for you.

Not that this is something I am hoping happens to you, but karma is a thing. Just saying...

life is as bad as a person makes it

and to be honest, i lived life so far pretty horribly, so i dont expect much in the mere future but constant hell and legal trouble, though thats kind of you to not wish such unexpectedness, i do deserve the hole i dug myself in.

I wasn't referring to them.

If Valve contests or goes to the authorities, they can provide this thread as evidence, showing someone knowingly committed fraudulent chargebacks.
You can't just chargeback you know, it's not a button in your banking app, you have to explain to your bank why you want a charge back and they they'll decide if it's appropriate. if you lie and they find out, that's fraud, and you'll probably go to jail.

This too, the first 7 week ban, it's a one time get out of jail free card, if your bank does a chargeback for any reason even by mistake in the future, that's it, you've lost your Steam account.

most of the chargebacks were in time frames of years
more like a yearly event but it was barely by some months. all of these somehow have reasons and it wasnt from big comphanys, well... one was, but i dont feel like i should specify any further considering how im digging myself a grave
