We're using a wireless router/modem combo. Windows defender is my antivirus.
I'll post anymore information as requested to the best of my ability.
I see many threads in this forum about network issues where the user has one of these units. They are a pain, due to the fact of not being able to bypass the wireless connecton on them, when that applies.
If you can bypass the wireless connection, and use ethernet only directly to the modem somehow, then I would suggest that you do so while trying to troubleshoot this.
Also, I only have one possible suggestion that may help with connectivity, if that unit is the issue with your problem, and it may not be. See this....

You understand that can affect this I am sure. And try not to pay so much attention to when it happened and let that cloud your judgement on how to troubleshoot it. For example, problematic software that you have always had but is only now showing a conflict with Steam/games/connectivity.....

Look at that ENTIRE list, from top to bottom please, and read it all carefully.
Also, you don't seem to have commented on the post above, concerning the combo unit that user had issues with and seems to have found a fix for. Maybe that will help and maybe not, if the unit is the issue and again, it may not be.
If this is true, it would have been good to mention before. Therefore, this is not a Steam issue for this fourm, I would say.
It is a game issue for the game forum. I suggest you post in the game forum for this game then. You can right click games in your library and select "view froum" to get there quickly.
I have posted in the game forum. But if you look, crash reports for 7 Days to Die don't get much attention, if at all.
Downloading, isn't an issue.
Straight up, the ONLY time we have trouble, is when he joins my world, or I join his. Everyone was able to do what they do, just fine, for about two weeks. And now we're having problems from this one game.
It's not even a matter of how many people are on. I shut my computer down, and got on my mom's computer. My father, on his. So there were two computer, and one PS3 running netflix. And then the game ran even worse. I went from being able to play for a few mins before being kicked, to being able to log in and not being able to even open a container.
I'm not sure what the deal is.
We've uninstalled steam, reinstall it. Our games too. We've reset the wireless internet, and the modem more than just a few times.
Everything on our end is running as well as we can manage.
My father and I, are feeling pretty adamant that the issue is either the game, Steam, or some kind of Steam option that my dad messed with. Which is very possible. But even then, he's uninstalled Steam, and reinstalled it. Just last night.
I'm NOT going off on you, I appreciate what help you're offering. I'm just giving more detail as we talk. I would love to see this issue fixed. Playing my games with my family is quite a bit of fun. My dad has been considering buying some of the other games I play, as well. Such as Empyrion, or Space Engineers. But! If playing together is going to be an issue, whats the point?

Sorry you're having trouble.
The only useful advice i can offer is to try to switch things up and try connecting to each other's game over wired LAN directly.
It sounds like it might be a router issue and bypassing the wireless part could help isolate the issue.
