How do trading card, badge and emoticon work?

Long time didnt use steam and read up some FAQ. Im still very confused.
Lets say for this game: http://steamtradingcards.wikia.com/wiki/NEKOPARA_Vol._1 Its has 8 trading cards, 5 badges and 8 emoticons, not include all the foil cards and foil badge. My aim is to get all the emoticons.

So basicly what im gonna do is:
1. Buy the game and get 4 free trading cards and i need to play the game to get the another 4 cards. After i collected all 8 cards, i can now go craft a LEVEL 1 badge. So now, i get one random emoticon and background.
2. Now i have 0 trading cards. I need to play the game long enough AGAIN and collect another 8 cards. After that i can craft the LEVEL 2 badge, i get another random NOT OWNED emoticon and background.
3. Repeat step 2. for 6 times and i will get all the 8 emoticons. And my badge has already maxed before i got all my emoticons, because i repeat step 2. for 8 times but i only need to repeat step 2. for 5 time to max my badge, LEVEL 5.

Am i correct?? Pls help...

No. You will only get 4 cards from that game. Most games will start dropping cards periodically after 2 hours of playtime, meaning you may need to play several hours before all 4 drop. Additional playtime will not drop additional cards. To get the rest, you will need to either trade with others, buy more cards from the market, aquire booster packs randomly, or craft booster packs from gems. Further, there is no guarantee that you will not get an emoticon/background you already have. They are random.

No. You must get the 4 that are dropped by that game and have logged in at some point in the past week. See this FAQ: https://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards/faq/

erase booster drops from your list of expectations. the chance for you getting one is so low, i would rather bet with someone to get struck by a lightning on a sunny day.

all drops, either cards, badgecraft bonuses(bgs, emotes) are random. you can and will receive dupes.


if you just want the emotes, buy them from the community market:

Also, since you get one emoticon with each level of the badge, but there are only 5 badges but 8 emoticons, even if you get a different emoticon each time you still will have to buy the last 3 if you want to get every single one of them.
