DARK SOULS™ III

DARK SOULS™ III

A Bad Solution; An Even Worse Fix Problem Now.
So, I have two steam accounts that I both own completely: But, I'm trying to family-share Dark Souls 3 into this Steam account, which it was working just fine until about a few minutes ago.

I got an error in-game telling me "Lack of License for this DLC" then it disconnects me from the game and starts it in Offline mode, so I thought I'd just restart the game and once I exited out, instead of saying "Play" it says, "Purchase" now.

I checked my email in-case I was missing something, but there's nothing new from Steam there. Plus I'm the only person using this family-sharing thing, so I'm not really sure how this works.

Any help would be great!

EDIT: According to this post: https://steamdb.info/app/374320/history/?changeid=8366370 Dark Souls III have ceased any and all Family-Sharing!

Sometimes it bugs out, remove the family share and set it up again.

Then how was I just playing it today and last night? >.>

Oh, indeed. The publisher has decided to disable family share for this game.
Bit late for that.

100% sure.

EXFGLS means EXcluded From Game Library Share.
1 means enabled.

ask on the games own board, if the dev is sure about that.
the info in the link above was straight pulled from Steam.

I'm forced to play on family share because I got my account banned for using a borderless software, to play on windowed borderless mode. Now my main account is banned, and shared account can't play.. very nicely done.

They did this because people were using it to evade bans.

I'm 100% new to the Dark Souls games as of about a week ago. I bought a 2nd copy for my alternate steam account to play with family. We were 2 noobs running through like 60 hours of the game in a week, putting in 12 hour shifts of fantastic adventure (seriously, wow). Now, suddenly my alt account can't share this game anymore. What are we supposed to do? The game was on sale for $21 last week when I bought it. Now it's $85. Is this the making of a class action lawsuit in the works? This has to be one of the most criminal things I've experienced or heard of with steam or the gaming industry entirely.

My thoughts: If they are doing this to combat people using family share to avoid bans, they should still work with people that have old steam accounts already using the share feature for DS3. The account my alt was sharing with is 15 years old and never been in any trouble whatsoever. If the idea is to eliminate players making new steam accounts to avoid the ban, then accounts created before today that were already sharing should still be given the option to remain sharing.

Worst case scenario is that some cheating players, one of which I've encountered in an invasion already at the snow DLC area, using old steam accounts to receive family sharing will have 1 single remaining chance to clean up their act, because the gig is up. Am I overthinking this? I honestly feel like I have been robbed of money with the way they handled this. We want to finish the story together, but $85 to do so for a game I've already bought with all the DLC TWO times is outrageous.

I don't know what to do. I'm sure many others are in the same boat, and 2 negative reviews for the game are coming from me if they don't fix this soon, to say the least. Is there a way to transfer the save file to use with my alt steam account to finish the story together?

I live in Canada, so tax in the game is around $90 for me, including the DLC's would push it well over $120. I 1,000% agree with you - Simply outrageous for disabling Family share.

Edit: There is also no way to transfer 'save-files' or character data. Otherwise people would use that instead of cheating/hacking. I believe if your friend were to buy the game he would have to restart a new game, since the save-file was coming from your end of the family-sharing on steam.

and to think that you could do that without getting banned.
there's a mod called "Souls Unsqueezed" that, among other things, allows you to do that.
just, make sure to not use a version newer than 0.4.0 because v0.6.0 causes bans. 0.4.0 is 100% safe.
anyway, open a support ticket on bandai's site, give them also the link to your steam profile and they will unban you in a few weeks.

try this program: https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls3/mods/409
I've not tried it myself though, so I can't tell you for certain if it causes a ban or not. the author says it's safe and a user in the comments said it was safe for him too.

I've not tried it myself though, so I can't give you a personal opinion on whether it causes a ban or not. the author says it's safe and a user in the comments said it was safe for him too.
You do realise that if Dark Souls detects any unrecognized file (e.g. NMM mods) while playing in Online mode, or if summoned to another world: It would almost immediately lead to an insta-ban.

Also if you're going to use Mods nonetheless, don't use Nexus Mod Manager - Use Vortex or MO2!
