Why is Steam suggesting I use Italian as a language?
I'm in the US and have not been to Italy in over 15 years, and I didn't have a Steam account when I did go. All my IP data states I'm within the US as well. I'm going through the English site, but every page has this at the top:

What can I do to fix it?

first of all, Steam is not doing this.

you are in a webbrowser and this bar comes from the addon augmented steam or its predeccessor enhanced steam.

in this addon you can set a default language for Steam and if it detects that this is not the current one, this bar will pop up and you have set it to italian.

this has nothing to do what your ip is. Steam main indicator for which language to use is the client language, then the account settings and then the primary language sent by the browser.

Already set to English, and Italian has never been checked here.
Tried changing language to Italian, and the bar goes away. But I don't speak Italian. So I changed it back to English and it comes back.

Go here:
https://www.iplocation.net/

It will show where some geolocation services believes your IP-adress is located.
The one Steam uses may have some error in their data.

Are you connecting to a VPN based in an Italian speaking country? That would be my first guess.

OMG Thanks. I do not have any idea how that happened, but thank you for your help. The language for whatever reason in Augmented Steam was set to Italiano. I didn't even know that addon had a language setting, much less why it would be set to Italian. But it is gone now, and all thanks to you.
