Copy local files to another PC and Account
Hi, as everyone knows, in the last days For Honor Starter Edition was released for free until today. Me and some of my friends got it, and here is the problem.

One of these friends have a bad internet speed, because he live in a rural zone, the maximum download speed he can approach is 125 kbps, so it would took 5 continuous days to download the game (more than 50GB).

My question is: It is any way to give him the local files of the game so he can play it?

I remember that a year ago i tried to do that simply copying and pasting the local files of another game and didn't work at all. So, i guess that, if it is possible, it must to be done in a special way.

Someone can help me with this issue please? Thanks!

Copy both the game folder and the appmanifest file of the game (both found in the Steamapps folder normally). If you are unsure, which appmanifest file is the right one, check the shop page and remember the number in the adress.

Thanks Jerry!

I will try, but for what i know there is some files that save information about the account associated with the game as ID, or whatever.

So, i wonder if that will be a problem when he try to open the game (though he also have the game in his library).

I think, it should work, but I have not tried a transfer between computers and accounts at the same time yet (though I have successfully launched games, that were installed by a different account on the same computer already).

If you want to make sure, or if it does not work, you could invite him over for a few hours and leave the installation running through his account.

close Steam when you are manually copying game files from or to it. that minimizes the chance that stuff goes wrong.

the game files are all "neutral" and contain no personalized information. if you are allowed to play it is checked at the start of the game.

This.

As long as you are only copying and placing those copies of files on the other computer, nothing can really go badly, as then you have the originals but always close Steam before doing any moving of files to and/or from the Steam folder.

I recommend verifying the copied game before trying to run it.

There could be some files that need to be download for the particular machine.

Thanks to all of you!

Tomorrow my friend will give me his HDD to make the copy.
I want to be sure that everything will be alright, so i'm not going to close this thread (if i can, idk
because is my first thread) until the issue is solved.

I'll be in touch!
