Is it possible to refund a pre-ordered game?
Hello,

Please correct me if im wrong. From what i can understand it's possible to refund a pre-ordered game any time, before the game comes out. I've tried to refund Cyberpunk2077, but it was rejected twice. I asked for explanation but what i got was " it cannot be refunded because 14 days have passed since the purchase".
Is it possible to refund it or not?

Thanks

You have to open up a manual ticket. Try this:

Go to your Account Details --> View purchase history --> Find the game --> "I have a question about this purchase"

Explain your situation. Short and to the point.

It would be possible but Steams policy is as long as it was within 14 days of purchase or less than 2 hours playtime. Seems since in this case it was more that 14 days ago you bought it they are refusing the refund despite the fact that game hasn't even released yet.

nope.

pre-purchases are refundable until 14 days after release or less then 2 hours playtime (relevant for pre-launch betas)

Refunds on Pre-Purchased Titles

When you pre-purchase a title on Steam (and have paid for the title in advance), you can request a refund at any time prior to release of that title. The standard 14-day/two-hour refund period also applies, starting on the game’s release date.

@OP: did you actually got a refund request denied (you got the answer via email) or did you just read that on the support page where you can send the refund request?

^ this

What wuddih says is correct.
You can refund a pre order anytime you want before it releases regardless of when you purchased it.

It shouldn't be getting rejected

I've sent two request. Both times i got an email stating that it couldn't be refunded. It was also mentioned that all refunds request are personaly checked by Steam employee. Both of those request were overseen by the same person (name was the same). In the second request i copied this paragraph about refunding preorders and wrote that my first refund was rejected. And I asked for an explaination why it can not be refunded so i could avoid situations like this in the future. And again the reply was standard 14 days have passed.

Thank You all for helping me out. You are awesome :)
Far as I know pre orders can be refunded anytime before launch as they're not out yet, once they launch exactly 14 days from that moment of launch is your dead line, and if you played/have over 2 hours of gameplay after launch then they can choose to reject your request.

So unless something wasn't being said correctly, or being rejected to refund due to not being able to appove the refund to you by the method of payment choice of how you paid in the 1st place, then need to firgure out the issue from that. I would suggest refund to Steam wallet as it's the least issue, but if you want the money back then ensure there's no issue related to your end such as credit card, or bank transfer you're using.

You should be able to refund a pre-order any time. The 14 day thing doesn't apply until after the game releases. Keep trying, maybe whoever is denying it thinks otherwise. You may need to explain that in the ticket.
