Power Player Badge Question
I just got this badge today, which is for owning 100 games. I currently own 229 games. No, I didn't buy 128 games all in one day. I've owned over 100 separate games for over 2 years now. The only thing I got this weekend during the sale was a pre-order for the new Tom Clancy's game. What's up with that badge just now unlocking?

Still not sure if it's a bug or new feature, but buying any game, or activating any code, will bump the badge to the most recent spot.

I assume some of yuor 229 games are F2P
Free to play do not count as long as you do not buy something on them/for them (as much as i know)
So you only own 140 games now by what your profile says

But as said the badge seem to be a little bugged

You will find it was unlocked when you first signed up to Steam and bought your first game (or thereabouts). Before this Steam Awards Sale, the "Power Player" badge you have, would have been lower down on the list. During this Steam Awards Event, all users are having this specific Steam badge (for the # of games they own) update on a daily basis and move to the top of this list consequently. Even if you haven't added a game recently, it will still do this. Why? I have no idea, but that's what it's doing.

Here is some information on that specific badge and other Steam specific badges:

If you look at the information about "Years Of Service" badge on that link, you will see your example is 5th from the bottom currently (based on "progression" settings). On the 25th March 2017, it will move to the top of your badge list when it updates.

I figured as such... but I guarantee 89 of my games are not F2P. The listing for 140 games seems a little off as well.

Figured... Thanks for the reply.

Wait.... I think that the 140 number is only counting the number of games that I've actively installed and put at least a few minutes into... That makes sense.

it only counts paid subscriptions on your account. what you have installed does not matter.

It is based on the # of games you own. Now exactly what is defined as "owned", I'm not entirely sure when it comes to F2P games, etc.. I don't know if the definition includes time spent playing a game, but I'm inclined to feel it's all to do with money spent instead. With F2P games, it might follow eligibility conditions for receiving Booster Packs; i.e. it might be based on what you've spent on content within the game while playing. How Valve work it out exactly, I'm not sure about, but you are currently at 140 games and need 110 more games before the badge updates to the next Level, which is "Game Mechanic" (+250 games).

Yeah... It's certainly more complicated than just owning games. The F2P thing is kind've an arbitrary area...

I believe I figured it out. The 140 number is coming from the number of games I own, duh. The 229 number is counting games + tools. You can see yours near the bottom of the LIBRARY tab.
