STEAM FRAUD

Ok STEAM is the biggest fraud company there is on the market. Last weak me and my friend bought CIVILISATION IV together and found out that the multiplayer is unplayable because it requires account from gamespy which stopped working awhile ago. We both requested refund and my friend got it but for me they say i played 26 hours .... How would i play 26 hours a game that we bought to play multiplayer. We got inside and found out multiplayer is done so we deleted it and now i have 26 hours play time on deleted game.....

Steam is a application not a company and you have 26 hrs on record for that game, regardless of game 'mode' the application has been running for that long.

A lot of games which used Gamespy, including Civ IV, were switched over to use Steamworks.

Ask for help on the forums for Civ IV. Someone there should know what you need to be doing.

you bought a 12 year old game, you have to expect to bend your mind a bit while playing such old games.

the game can definitely be played together with your friend. you just have to look a for you adaptable solution, since there are multiple.

What? Tons of people play Civ4 MP. hell civfanatics is full of people that refuse to play anything else in MP.

Civ4 doesn't even use Gamespy and I literally just loaded the game and saw 5 games waiting for players

heck you can even inite users to your game in the overlay

We can't play online. And since steam is selling it they should put the information that it requires account that can't be made (for multiplayer)..... And "Steam is a application not a company and you have 26 hrs on record for that game, regardless of game 'mode' the application has been running for that long." that is fake i haven't played even 10 mins of the game as we bought it to play multiplayer and it wouldn't allow us so i deleted it and requested refund. The first time i requested a refund it said time player 23 mins and after my refund was declined it is now saying 26 hours....

The game totally works in MP as even a casual look in civfanatics looks like

Just create a game and then have your friends join.

When i go multiplayer it wants me to put gamespy account ....

*Online Multiplayer to be suspended as of May 31st 2014, LAN mode still supported. Mac version's Online Multiplayer no longer supported.
How did you miss it? Check forums for solutions. Follow the help from Satoru and wuddih and Teksura. Check if you need any of the dlc to play online. It is not a fraud, it is clearly stated on steam store page.

Lol yup ur right. Still its fraud to tell me i played the game 26 hours when clearly i haven't ... When i go to my power saver app it clearly states that the game was active 31 mins and they say 26 hours ... What the ♥♥♥♥.

Are you running it from steam. Because I loaded Civ4 and Civ4 BTS and no Gamespy prompt exists. Also note that if your friends bought other version of Cvi4 (and why you didn't buy BTS out of the gate is peculiar since BTS is pretty much the definitive version to begin with) that's not gonna work either

MP only doesn't work on Mac. Unless you're playing Ghost Recon on Parallels at 1fps I'm gonna assume you must have a PC

Actually i can play everything on my MAC. I never had an issue before that. My fault i donated money to steam again never gonna happen again. Worst customer support biggest scammers.
