For Steam : Payment via mobile phone
Hello Steam! I have an idea. You can introduce payment via mobile phone! It can be useful. Thanks

lols. Then it would be like 20 bucks of mobile money = 1 buck of steam credit.

Because I'm sure parents would appreciate their kids spending all their cellphone credit on hats :)

Good idea. In fact I know one company for this: Zong[www.zong.com]

Won't happen. Blizzard tried this before, it was a compleat failure. Accounts kept getting lock because the phone company did a chargeback of even a few cents. They get paid first and everyone else is secondary, even if it is their fault you didn't get billed for enough.

Plus their transaction fees are insanely expensive.

A nice lenghty explanation can be found on the Battle.Net forums[us.battle.net]
First: A lot of phone companies do not allow Pay-by-Phone, and there are some who did allow it at one time, but stopped doing so. This is for very good reasons.
Pay by phone can be very risky. If you are not very careful with it, your account can get charge backed, resulting in your account getting locked until Blizzard get their back pay. Phone Companies pay themselves first. If you have any billing disputes with your phone company, partial, or late payments, they can(have done so in the past) issue charge back, on any Blizzard payment they have ever made for you, even 2 years afterwards.

Second: Any disputes you may have with PaymentOne can put both your phone service, and your WoW account in jeopardy. PaymentOne and under it's Old name EBillit has had a bit of a spotty history, when it come to costumer complaints and disputes. If fact Verizon use to allow paymentOne's pay-by-phone service, but dropped it.

Lastly: Of the phone companies do allow Pay-by-Phone, they may limit what can or can not be charged. Because Paymentone is a 3rd party middleman, even though the charges may have appears to have gone through, they really haven't. In other words paymentone may have approved the charge, but your phone company hasn't yet. This can put a hold on the transaction until the phone company does approve it. This normally only happens the 1st time the service is used. But it may happen at any time.

Players that used this service for their WoW account needed to have been sure: To pay their phone bill on time and in full every month; If they had a dispute about part of their bill, they still had to pay it in full, and hope they would get credit back latter, when they settled their dispute; Lastly they had to be careful not to not blow off their last bill. Even if they only used pay by phone

It's not a walk for the park, neither for the users, not for the store.

What about Steam for Mobile?

I never tried it before so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Can't u checkout using that and have the payment go through phone, which would then just be added to your phone bill? Like what happens when u buy an app from Apple/Anriod app stores using a cell carrier?

tbh i'd love if you could charge with the phone APP not the phone credit.. ideal, etc works on my phone without the need for a random reader. (another physical device i need for electronic payments) but, the payment has to originate from my phone to work.

You mean like how Crunchyroll allows you to renew the subscription through its own Mobile App with the iTunes -funds?

This might be an old threat but I still think it's a good idea. Like myself I don't add fundds to steam often. But if there would be an option with mobile/phone I would add more ^^

if you want to pay like $10 to get $5 in the wallet. mobile payment providers have ridiculous fees and you cannot expect steam paying for them.

I may be nice, up till the provider does a chargeback and your account gets locked for 90 days (or more). Then it wouldn't seem like such a good idea.

That is what happened to WoW players when Blizzard allowed subscribers to subscribe by phone payments.
