I am only guessing that they might skip it this year. At that time when the spring cleaning event would be going on the Open World Sale is going to be up (who knows tho, might have both?)

well they could start it tomorrow and have it for a week before the open world sale.

as it is the open world sale is probably going to be a minor sale with mediocre discounts.

IIRC spring cleaning is typically a four-day event. :largegoo::greenslime:

The spring cleaning event is a cool one, shame if they skip it.

Well the event is weird because its not actually a sale.
Its literally just an event to encourage peiople to play the games they already own.
WHat will determine if they do it again is how well it worked previously.

I'm just thinking they'll blend the 2 into that one. I can already see that a few games will be F2P during the event.

spring cleaning event not sale. it was an independent event which was happening every year since 3 years. (or more)

it might coincide with the open world sale.

on what basis are you saying the open world sale has replaced the spring cleaning event ? any source or something ? or just because the dates are so close you are guessing that ?

The event took place during their sale. Several sites have reported that its gone and been replaced - https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-sale-dates/

There is going to be a Steam Spring Sale this year but it's going by a new name now. After skipping the Spring Sale in 2019 and 2020, Valve has scheduled something called the Steam Open World Sale for the end of May. Although it has a new specific theme, these are similar dates to when Valve used to run a Spring Sale. Valve is calling it a "sale and celebration of infinite exploration".

The next batch of sale dates are already known and have been known for a while due to the leaks such as the Summer sale being from June 24th - July 8th

open world sale is a curated thematic sale. it will probably also replace he spring cleaning event or entail the task stuff.

the dumb crap is that news outlets were calling the spring cleaning event as spring sale to generate more clicks.
there was never a spring sale, if there was, it was always limited and highly curated.

spring sale is not the same as the spring cleaning event.
they are two different things. spring sale hasnt happened for a couple of years now.
this thread is about the spring cleaning event.

its not surprising. i dont actually expect many people to know the difference between the spring sale which used to happen on steam some years ago and the steam spring cleaning event that has been happening for the past few years.

very few people care about these things and hence most people dont know about it.

anyway - looks like in all probability - even the spring cleaning event is about to be history.

we shall all find out soon enough :)

I've got badges for 2019 and 2020 in last days of May but I can't remember when did it start and how long it lasted. I believe it'll start soon - no later than Monday.
