Being warned on the internet for something which would award you with a pat in the back in real life is sadly a rite of passage.
If what you say is true that is the day I delete my Steam account and tbh even though I've never been in any serious trouble myself and I never will I've never been happy with the standard of moderation here but that's a debate for another day.
I was also banned for 3 months prior to this maybe 2 or 3 years ago and I couldn't do any of the aforementioned things. Profiles count as community. I had a friend who removed me, and during those 3 months I couldn't accept his friend invite until my ban was lifted.
I'm sorry to hear that. Honestly that is a load of BLEEP. Being banned from the forums is adequate as far as I'm concerned. Your Profile has nothing to do with what happened there.
someone with a community ban will have their profile enforced to be private. it will exactly look like a private profile but without the "This profile is private." text.
i will not link anyone here but you should relatively quickly find someone with a community ban, otherwise here is a guide that covers all bans.

I have plenty of alternative gaming accounts where I can buy my PC games though. Steam used to be my go to Platform as there was nothing else but things have changed since then. I probably wouldn't delete my account but I would likely not buy anything on here. There's a lot of things I don't like about Steam and some of their harsh rules is but a tip of the iceberg but admittedly I do prefer to have my games under the one account. Like the saying goes nothing lasts forever.
In your Community Messages you can respond to the Moderator's warning there. If it's only a minor warning honestly I wouldn't bother as based on my experience they never respond.
That's why, somebody has to monitor them and their behavior. I don't think it was even close to a warning, if anything a verbal perhaps.
Read the warning/ban message. There is a part that tells you to contact Steam Support. The part that is underlined is a link to submit a support ticket.
Do note that support won't really help with bans/warning from developers/publishers or their appointed moderators. The developer/publisher is in charge of their moderators and can run their discussions as they see fit.
