Anyone know how to revert steam to the old UI?
I really cannot get used to the new interface. I had a heart attack in November and haven't been on my PC for a while. There was a way to revert it back but I cannot find out how all this time later.

I've put out a set of Tweaks to the Steam Library and made an app to apply them:

Not recommended since the first games already dont work anymore with the old UI.
For example Borderlands 3 will not work without the new UI.
There will just be more and more of those.
Clinging to a outdated UI that does not get any updates anymore is foolish.

I really do want the old UI back. I just hate this one. I am using Playnite now but it would be nice to use Steam again.

You're most assuredly not using Playnite (or at least not as a replacement for Steam), it is just a graphical shell. You have Steam running in the background satisfying DRM and other things (i.e. achievements, cloud, screenshots).

If you want interface consistency then I would suggest you continue using Playnite because it unifies things across different stores. You should not be rolling-back Steam client version because the client is more than a UI and games require features that don't exist in older versions.

Change is the only constant. Steam has had several redesigns over the years and every time, threads like this one were paramount. Every. Single. Time. People resist change.

The minimal ui steam you can still use just click on view and select compact mode, this is as close to old steam u can get... Now if u mean In game overltay or the friends chat there's no way u just have a compacted mode that is not very compact as it still show pics of friends instead of just names.

To answer your actual question: there is a way, if you are willing to fiddle with the client. It worked back when the update came and it should still be applicable.

If you check out the description, the poster provides the files needed from the official source as well (steam's servers).

To be fair, the other guys are right: there are compatibility issues with some games. So if I were you I'd try to find out whether the games you are going to play have such issues.

That said, I am still on the old client on my laptop and it works just fine - for the games I am playing at least.

I realy realy dislike the new steam politics.
The client is slow and ugly as *.

Ill get no feedback for clicking on something, things dont wanna load and alot of informations are missing. You have to assemble crucial urls by yourself and somehow let them open by your client to read for example your forum history.

In the background is a tremendous rise in cpu and network usage. Wasted resources for nothing, wasted resources for ugly win10 tile look. Now steam wanna show me social media crap all the time with 80% of the screen beeing consumed. Animated givs and inappropriate comunity stuff on my screen! Ive even seen spoilers.

Dont get me wrong, on my TV this looks great, and Iam a big Steam fanboy.
But on my pc, is just nowhere near appropriate.

btw.
AND THIS WINDOWS 10 CRAP IS THE REASON WHY IAM USING LINUX AND STOPPED GAMING ENTIRELY :(((

There is the small mode;
In Steam client: View > Small Mode

That´s still the same.

Can we please like start a petition for steam to give the old UI back. I tried multiple ways to get the old UI back but none work.

Change is the nature of all things.

I get that you don't like it, but often there's a reason for such change. The fact that such reason doesn't necessarily apply to you personally doesn't matter.

SO the best advice is to get used to it, because not only will you end up being left further and further behind as more features going on changing, while you're hanging onto the old, but it will be a dimishing circle of functionality as more and more things break for you.

I've returned to Steam after 5 years without a suitable PC, and I expected a load of changes, and that's what I got. Took about a day and I'm used to it.

I'm a grumpy old git in his fifties, and if I can do it, I strongly advise you do the same.

Of course, you can still comaplin about it, and post suggestions for improvement or returning features.

I'm still using it just fine with this.

Yep, I am a miserable old sod in my 40's but I just don't find the user interface as useful. I have had to switch to Playnite. It has the same huge icons but I can see nearly all of my installed games without messing about.

My issue isn't with change, I like new things but I want the new interface to be as usable as the old. There are some better features but for my use case I want to be able to see my installed game library first and at a scale that suits my needs. I don't think taking features away is progress.

The problem with Playnite is that Steam friends isn't integrated so I have to flick between the two but at least I am able to see games from all launchers and customise the skin as I want.

I think if this interface was customisable that would be the best solution but I cannot find options to get it set up as I like. I would like to see a collection when I log into Steam instead of having to switch to it and I would like to be able to zoom out a little so I can see more games in one hit.

(It was 3D Mark!!!)
