This isn't FB support.
Facebook, much like Discord isn't used by Steam's staff to handle personal / account things. So long you understand that you don't get scammed.
It still nice for people to spread awareness on Steam about a Steam focused scam on the largest social media platform on the internet, who knows how long it would take FB to react, read, or even care about that.
A warning here helps some years.
Or you can tell people to read this...
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/70E6-991B-233B-A37B
I mean.... either way you would have to tell people what to be aware of some how lol.
I mean you aren't wrong but I am not sure Steam is just going to like people doing PSA's linking just that as a thread with no additional context of why they are linking it. xD
At least this way its like Hey, Facebook... you know facebook right? Facebook has a steam scam going on, don't be fooled and log into your account through their links.
:P
There are thousands of these PSAs already all over the forums. So much so, Valve added more crap to the FAQ about them.
Not many people read the FAQ because it isn't in their face. :P
Just like how many people still get scammed daily despite a warning plastered on trades prior. xD
All I am saying, is this to some capacity will help someone.... hopefully.... maybe?
Idc its a nice gesture. xD
For a short time, Facebook was the internet's darling. A significant effort was put into Facebook for business purposes. They probably never had to go anywhere else. Never picked up a phone, never submitted a support ticket, never went to a companies website, just lived inside their Facebook world.
Twitter has a similar world. Companies like to keep track of what is trending on Twitter and Facebook in relation to their business.
Reddit and Discord? I have no idea. Are scams that successful on Reddit? Discord at least has plausible deniability, with a clear link to gaming. What connection to any business or commercial activity does Reddit even have?
You mean those warnings that will never be seen by the people it would actually benefit? Or are actively ignored by said people?
since years there are scam pages pretending to be Steam Support and it takes too long to get them removed and reporting them is basically impossible for a normal person. the impersonated company has to report it themselves and the requester has to identify themselves as a representative of the company, otherwise the report never goes through.
YES!
Those warning EXACTLY. (:
You don't need to get all of them, but sometimes something like this will help someone.
yes i know its not FB support. was looking a way to inform steam of this. and warning to anyone that might fall for it. if you read the comments on the Scam people from all over are standing up for Steam.
