PayPal option became useless
Why did Steam decide, that PayPal now needs your bank account or credit card linked to purchase the tiniest things like refreshing the Steam wallet? PayPal was my way of not having my bank account connected to the internet.

I might aswell terminate my PayPal account because more and more shops start doing this.

Steam did not decide that, Paypal did.

How are you paying with pay pal if it's not connected to some card or bank?

Sounds more like something Paypal decided on, they're a bunch of lowlifes when it comes to that. For example... with Google Pay I can take on actual subscriptions even while I only have "Google credits" stored and nothing linked. That was never possible with Paypal....

(edit): I'd strongly suggest looking into online banks. There are quite a few reliable ones, most allow you to use their services for free and will even provide a virtual debit creditcard.

Stored credits. In some countries you can make online payments to Paypal but without actually linking your bank account, resulting in your Paypal account containing actual money yet without any risk of them draining your bank account.

Ohhh, I guess some countries don't have protections on debit/credit cards like others.

you can not use paypal without a credit/bank card, that is normal. I have always paid Steam through Paypal with no issues.

This change is up to one week old. I was always able to pay with a barebone basic account with only balance and no linked banks or cards.

Thank you all for your answers. Germany is ♥♥♥♥ when it comes to paying online, since the standard bank card in Germany is a GiroCard instead of a debit card, completely useless online unless you use GiroPay which is a tedious way of paying at times.

If PayPal is the one changing everything, then I hope they will get backlash of some sort. I'm gonna close the account then. Everyone have a great new year!

I don't have any problems with paypal as long as i don't select the "Save my payment information so checkout is easy next time" option so maybe try this

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
