Just wondering why all steam comment awards are positive?
I seem to notice a plethora of positive comments on games that are extremely basic with low play hours.
This floods games with positive reviews making it hard to tell if a game is decent or average.

Negative awards could weed out these basic reviews and give us all more insight into whether a game is truly awesome or just another average title.
Putting positively rated comments higher and negatively rated comments lower.
If you can't handle a bit of criticism well maybe you shouldn't be leaving so many damn public reviews.

It is so hard to make an informed decision when you have to trawl through endless reviews to find one that has been genuinely well constructed.

The awards do nothing. Up- or downvoting (helpful/not helpful) is what gives "weight" to a review.

The review types that get lots of awards (spam/memes) got posted long before the awards came into existence, the difference is that now alongside lots of upvotes they also get awards. Report such reviews if you feel they're not contributing.

And as far as why such reviews get lots of upvotes and awards, well, that's just people being people.

I just think the system is floored and has room for improvement. I have thousands of unspent points and am just looking for more creative ways to utilize them.
I think more variety would help.

I don't know why anyone would want to waste their Steam points just to point out that review is bad. It's what downvoting is for.

Also people would just leave bad reviews on purpose to farm these "negative" awards.

I'm talking from a technical point, not a psychological one. Awards don't influence the "weight" of a review and are irrelevant to whether a review is shown earlier when filtered on "most helpful". Up/downvotes influence that. Though it shouldn't be surprising that spam/meme reviews that get lots of upvotes also get lots of awards.
