Red Faction: Armageddon

Red Faction: Armageddon

custom mod for RED FACTION ARMAGEDDON
Hi all,

Hi all, I'm currently using a 75 degrees fov fix for the game which for my personal taste is not enough. Original game had a 45º (!!!) fov.

I'd like one with 90-100 degrees at least. The files I have are there:

https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/421-red-faction-armageddon-fov-fix/

can someone help me?

the game uses vertical fov
45° vertical fov, is like 70 ish horizontal.
the 75° fix is over 100 horizontal . that is already noticeable fisheye is most games.

Well it's way smaller in this game, then. For example, 100 horizontal in postal 2 is way way wider than in armageddon. Gonna need something between 120-doom then lol.

Horizontal fov and vertical fov are different entities.

Horizontal fov is left to right viewpoint.

Found this on the Metro Exodus forum which relates to vertical fov. An fov calculator is linked.

I'm willing to pay something for it via paypal/steam gift. Just lmk your (reasonable ;p) price.

Okay, but isn't this actually pretty straight forward from looking at the files? For example, comparing the 65 and 75 degree versions, the only difference is one single entry - the one defining the FOV.

Have you tried replacing

<fov_min>75</fov_min>

in misc.vpp_pc and table.vpp_pc with a different number, e.g. <fov_min>90</fov_min>?

that's what I thought, but I unpacked them and they contain 2000+ files. tried looking for something fov/field of view/etc related with no luck :/
Phoenix Sep 7, 2021 @ 4:45am
I didn't even unpack them, I just run the files itself through winmerge and came up with one difference (the one FOV entry) per file. I've uploaded the modified files here:

https://file.io/pH77Hc2rtCeE

(if Steam will let me post links)

Let me know if these do anything and/or crash the game - in which case I'm out, but this would be my "quick and dirty solution", given that this seems to be the only difference. FOV should be changed to 95, no idea if the game even supports that or if it breaks it in other unsuspected ways.

Any idea where I can upload files and post links without steam removing them?

See if this works

uploaded to mediafire. Again, let me know if this sets the FOV to 95. You can verfiy the files yourself if you compare them to the 75 FOV version. The only difference is the modified FOV entry.

having some weird problem, it messes the game and puts the character under ground, pic here:

lemme reinstall and try it in a fresh install, maybe I messed my files

It is possible that this is due to the expanded FOV which moves part of your view underground. You might have to modify the viewpoint definition.
