even the store price will stay the same, regardless of an introduction/abolition/change of a tax.
thailand f.e. will have a 7% tax in 2 weeks, inclusive, the prices on for all product on Steam will not change, unless the product owners change them manually.
That's not how taxes work. You don't 'own' a haircut yet you are correctly charged HST. HST applies to most services which you dont 'own' making an ownership as the criteria for HST as utter nonsense.
No thats not what you're doing. you're purchasing a license. Which is not renting. Even if you were renting, which to be clear you're not, you'd still be charged HST regardless since renting is itself a service, which, *shocked pikachu face* is taxable.
You might be shocked that tax evasion is not a viable defense
Note Japan is semi-wierd in that while there is federal taxes, the price listed can be shown as "includes tax" or "excludes tax" there's no consistency for what store does what for what items. Only that the store must say which of the 2 the listed price is.
Want a Nintendo switch from Yodobashi?
https://www.yodobashi.com/product/100000001005079800/
¥32,970(税込) (tax inclusive)
Want this cool magneto statue? Kotobukiya lists 2 prices because.... whY????
https://www.kotobukiya.co.jp/product/product-0000004309/
税込価格 46,200円 (tax inclusive)
税抜価格 42,000円 (excluding tax)
I mean ultimately you're paying the tax inclusive price. But many store will try to list the tax exclusive price to draw customers in as it 'looks' cheaper. Kind of like a sign that has 90% in giant 10ft font but in tiny 0.01 microns it says "up to"
That's not how the world works.
Other digital game services have been taxed for years before this, Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.
all the time?
It was bound to happen, you are acting as if this existed since 2010, for all the 10 years worth of online shopping I have never paid PST GST. The law was announced recently this year
Most canadians pay more than 10 to 20k per year for healthcare. you just dont see it because its bundled into income tax. Dont kid yourself, nothing is free in life, not even the air you breathe.
You think the greey United States wouldn't dip their fingers in that? You must be new to the world.
What does the US have to do with Canadian tax lol?
Also I wasn't disagreeing, I agreed that tax was going to be mandatory for online purchases, never disagreed.
Hey bud, just checked my tax return online I filed in 2020. It says I only payed $6.73k in taxes, so incorrect on your assumption right there lol. I payed $12,000 USD for a week in a hospital when I got injured by ATV in Wyoming. Luckily for insurance I had it reduced to $1000.
Is it common for people in the US to assume these kind of things? I provided a link of what our tax brackets look like with simple research, you could have done would get the same result.
