My fiance's account locked due to me asking for a refund?
I purchased a game and 2 DLC's while the sale was going on on the 30th. I finally was able to play the game on the 1st, realized it was broken, so requested a refund. I also bought my fiance a small handful of games as well, one of which I also purchased for myself when I realized how much fun it was.

Instead of refunding me my money, steam literally posted my fiances username, and his actual legitimate first name to me, and said they had blocked his account, and taken off my payment card method from his account!

He has been using my card for over 2 years now! And that wasn't even what the issue was about either!

I called their "phone support number" which isn't even real, left a message on there on the 1st, and never got a call back-4 days later, still nothing.

I put in about 4 different "update your ticket", all stating that he is my fiance and has permission to have that payment method on his account, and that I bought those games for him, and all it keeps telling him is that the cardholder (ME) is who had his account blocked, and until THEY come up with a resolution with ME (which they wont because their ignoring any update to my ticket I put up), that his account will remain BLOCKED.

He's had that account for SEVERAL years, never got any bans or suspensions on it, and did absolutely NOTHING wrong! This is absurd!

They also put 2 charges on my bank account, both for almost $2 each, and had him verify the amounts, which he DID, and they STILL banned his account! And did NOT refund me the "verification funds" like they were supposed to!

I am pretty sure no one comes here to discuss problems such as these, but the community NEEDS to be AWARE what this company is doing to people, and I can't be heard through the ticket system since all my requested for support are being IGNORED.

There is no phone support, so you won't get a call back.

I doubt the tickes are being ignored, though I have not see it's contents if it is, there may be a reason.

Can you link his account please?

And what was the exact message he recived?

How was the refund done? Was it through Steam or through the card company?

Pfft. Last time I checked it's against the rules Everywhere to use someone else's Debit/Credit card. Whether it's your fiance, husband, son, cousin or aquaintance. Kind of illegal too. This in return saves everyone a lot of headache when crap like "500 dollars worth of games have been purchased with my card without my knowledge or approval". Do you know the legalities they have to go through to get your money back? Just because they're Valve doesn't mean they can just "order" developers and companies around asking for refunds every time that happens. And that, happens a LOT.

Second. If you purchased your game in the same time as you purchased a game or DLC for HIM then they would refund the entire transaction and not just the part of it that suits you. So therein may lie your problem.

Third. If you want to be nice and pay for his games which by the way I think it's wrong, then you should have had him open a new paypal account and transfer money to HIM so that he can make the payments HIMSELF with his "own money".

His account is here - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198001999125/ - and the game was bought on my card, so I requested it be refunded back to that card.

They have issued 3 refunds, one for the game and then 2 for the 2 dlcs I purchased as well, but they have not refunded the 2 "verification" charges, and they still have not lifted my fiances ban, who did nothing at all wrong, and they banned him just because of the money I spent on his account for the games I bought him.

This is literally from the message they sent me (days ago, which is why I say they are now ignoring me, since they've already reached out to me once)

"Our records show this purchase was made using credit card information that was previously stored on this account. As a courtesy to you, I have removed this information. If you do not want your payment information saved for future purchases, be sure to uncheck the box at the time of checkout that says "Save my payment information so checkout is easy" next time.

I recommend speaking with other members of your household, or anyone that may have had access to your card, to determine who may have made these purchases.

In the meantime, the Steam account associated with these charges and any recent purchases on that account have been restricted to prevent further unauthorized charges as you investigate this matter.

Once you have spoken with the other members of your household, or anyone that may have had access to your card, please feel free to reply to this ticket and we will continue our investigation.

Steam Support
Jax"

And what's the worse thing is, I NEVER said ANYTHING about buying HIM games for HIS account!

So you contected support about a refund for his account, instead of requesting a refund directly from his account?

If so, I would assume the same as support and that the charges were unauthorized to begin with. He was simply trying to secure the account until they got more infromation.

If you already replied to the ticket, then you just need to wait. It isn't instant and support has a lot to deal with over the summer sale. They should remove the lock after they get back to the ticket and finish their investigation.

No, the refund was for my account.. that's what I'm trying to say.. they looked at my purchase history, saw I had purchased games for my fiance, and automatically assumed the "charges" were from him, so they blocked his account.. then when I explained to them that wasn't even the charge in question, it was for a game and 2 dlcs I bought, they refunded that to me, but still kept his account banned, because they think somehow the charges are un authorized even though he did a verification of the 2 bank charges from steam to verify it is our shared card.

How did you request the refund? Through a support ticket and not the refund system?

Bank give two cards for shared account, one with each person's name on it and typicaly with diffrent card numbers.

No I used the refund system.. NOT a support ticket. Although my fiance made a support ticket for his account being banned and they ignored him as well so I guess it really does not matter what method we went through at this point.

No, not unless you are married actually. And in this state, no it is not illegal as long as the CARDHOLDER (ME) gives PERMISSION, then no, it is not. I'm not sure which states you two live in, but here, that does not exist unless someone is using your card WITHOUT your permission.

Not sure what married has to do with it. At any bank, two people can open a joint account even with diffrent names. Their relationship does not matter.

I was simply saying that he should use his own card if it was a bank. I am not sure about Paypal's policies though.

I didn't say it was illegal either.

Did they open a suppor ticket for you? Is that how you replied or was it through his account that you are replying to a ticket?

Could you provide the ticket number please?

I guess things are different in different states. Here you cannot open a shared account with someone unless you are married to them. And no I'm not going to disclose what state I'm in so please don't ask ;p I've heard enough about online predators and stalkers to know not to give out location information.
KimmyKaZE Jul 4, 2017 @ 11:18am
HT-CP2Y-CNBW-5YF6 and they closed out my other tickets from the refund system, that is the only one left open still.
KimmyKaZE Jul 4, 2017 @ 11:19am
HT-C7HX-JBPC-WG7F
HT-N4FB-YTFP-DF6G
HT-CWGD-V63M-QRJ7

were my refund requests that got closed and refunded.

what was the exact support route?

a normal requested refund can not end in this scenario.

The refund system does not use a ticket system, so you would not get a ticket from that.

I have done a refund recently and no tickets numbers were given at any point.

I can't find anything in your state about having to be married to open a joint account. What I can find are banks policies on joint accounts for non-married people so that would imply that it is allowed.

As for the issue at hand, I suggest waiting until the end of the week as support should be able to get to it by then.
