Games spiking in price?!
I do not know about other regions, but in my region games have been spiking considerably in price. 3 months before EA's return to steam Mass effect 1 and 2 tripled in price. After EA's return Crysis 1 and 2 also spiked. I also noticed the new game trouble shooter, it almost quadripled. as far as I know non where early access games so what up with that??????????

Which is why it is illegal in most countries to raise the price a few weeks before a sale.
>EA caring about consumer laws

EA caring about huge fines? Yes, very much. Also EA probably cares more than Valve by now.

Depending on the fine. If the fine costs less than the profits from the fined behaviour, all hail the fine! Fun fact: Germany's paying fines for over exporting for years but we don't are 'cause we gain so much from the exports, the whole ordeal is a net positive.
then maybe buy the game when it's cheaper instead of waiting around.. Were you waiting around for the ultra, here goes the game free of charge sale... you rolled the dice and lost.. it happens when you play the stockmarket as well.. you wait and wait and wait never buying, then the price shoots through the roof and you're left banging your head..

raising the price is only illegal when the price is readjusted again shortly after a discount period.

in terms of EA that were more permanent price adjustments.

nothing any consumer protection will care about, especially not EU.

Lately in Argentina the regional pricing is a big mess.

All the EA prices are way too high. Even the older ones that were already in Steam got a big price increase.

But it's not only EA. Capcom's Resident Evil 3 got a ridiculous price here.

And SEGA with the Total War games also increased their prices greatly.

It's as if they do not want to sell copies over here.

totally agree with you. I have been in argentina for 6 months and at first I was surprised when I changed my region, but now the prices are all over the place. Who would but RE 3 for 3500 ARS$ ???!!!
With no sale price, game like Crysis 2 costs around $35 here while the old price is just around $10, not to mention other games as well, they seem try to push people move to Origins and pay subscribtion by spiking up all the price on steam so people would buy their games in their platform because as far i know games price in Origins are still same..

I do not notice higher prices in general. However a selling practice these days, giving 10% discount or something when it release is common.
For example i sell my game for 29.99 at release its 26.99, or 19.99 is 17.99 etc..

These are not discounts when you choose your starting price in the first place. But hey...

I think I'm gonna make a game that costs 1000 dollars and have a permanent 99% discount so it will look like a good deal :ssorano:

Yes but not if its permanent. You see alot of games that are older still have prices like 20, 30 or even 50€. And at almost every sale its under 10 or even under 5€.

Yeah i mean game like Mirror's Edge was always 75% when on sale back then and i don't recall it's ever higher than that, now the price is spiking up around 15-20 bucks but they "changed" the discount to 90% which is just a same amount as the price when it was 75% with old price tag..
What a joke lol..
very dirty and shady tactics to be honest
