It's no different to how PSN doesn't cross-reference with XBL, nor Nintendo either.
The fact that it's also PC doesn't mean anything, as Steam is it's own ecosystem. Entirely separate from MS and XBL.
Game Pass DOES have cross compatibility with MS' store and system though, unsurprisingly. And you can find the odd game that MAY have cross-compatible features. For example, Toy Soliders here on Steam, used to use the Games for Windows Live setup, and earning achievements on here would list it on your Xbox 360.
But as far anything more than that, nope. Nor will it likely ever be for obvious reasons.
Yes I can confirm. I downloaded the game from Xbox game pass and it doesn't show up on Steam. Which is a pity considering I paid nothing for that game as compared to the Steam price
It doesn't show up in my Steam library. It better have crossplay otherwise it makes my game pass almost useless.
And you didn't check whether X-Box version supports playing with Steam users, so "it better have crossplay"?
Errr....I suppose you can try asking Microsoft to give you a second copy of the game for free by asking for a Steam key from the XBox people...game developers work for free, and customers are always right!
A bit of advice, do research next time before you get something.
It doesn't work like that, You are expecting something unheard of in the industry.
There are NO examples of this, so why do you have this bizarre idea that you somehow should expect it?
I'm curious, seriously, what lead you to think this was a thing? Because whatever it was, we can probably get to the root of it and correct it.
The problem with cross-compatibility of any nature is that platforms, whether hardware like consoles or software like Steam or Origin, are going to secretive in nature. No company is going to open about their access because it essentially kills off their reason to exist. In short, commercial suicide.
Sure, you'll get goodwill gestures, mere breadcrumbs, like the occasional game that has crossplay in multiplayer or the odd item, but nothing more.
Games going from MS/Epic > Steam isn't a thing unless devs give you a Steam key.
i'm a developer myself and I can confirm we don't work for free.
Wait what? You're a developer and you aren't aware of how the industry doesn't work like this?
I'm stunned. I think you need to do a bit of reasearch as I think it could help you. Especially in economics and business and particular look at why this is commerical suicide.
For the last time time, ease out.
