New scam type. (Clan Invite)
Got an invite to play, then to join a clan, the clan site requires a Steam login and steals your account.

Be careful.

This is nothing new and around for a while. :winter2019tiredbulb:
Never type your Steam Credentials on an untrusted third party site. I had something similar where someone offered my a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and I had to type my credentials on a site to redeem it. I realized it quick enough before that happened and blocked the friend who sent the link.

Using the Steam API sure, but this is the first clan related one, I have gotten. I get a lot.

Was asked to play, then join the clan group, all legit, then they ask you to sign up to a tournament they are in and need a 5th. That is the scam site.

Don't only block, also report them. Otherwise nothing changes.

Yeah, this has been around a few years. Usually people get baited with either tournament or team sign ups. It follows on from when 'clans' would bait someone to join them and then send them a malware link disguised as a Teamspeak latest driver update.

These tournament pages are also rife on Streams I hear.
The tournament sign-in isn't really new, it's been around for some time. Remember that the fake report scam is only the last step and barely anyone can (or is willing to) link their previous activities to the scam.

Yeah, It was while ago so I can't remember if I reported them or not. I like to think I did, but I may forgotten about it even though I usually do report stuff like that.

I mean it’s just

Log into <website> and get phished

This isn’t new. Just because you replace the “why” doesn’t make it new

All good, I just report them anyway.
Not new at all, just not as used as other scams.

Yeah, I've seen this going years back. There are no truly new scams. They typically rely on a combination of greed, gullibility and/or fear. Whatever the story is, it's almost always the "click here" that gets people.
