Valve, please, add an option to disable receiving friends invites. It's about time!
I hate to receive an invite while I am playing causing me to lose control over my character having em to deal with this unwanted invite, from someone that I will probably not even speak with, opening the Steam overlay automatically.

This is just wrong. What the hell is this?? Give me an option to disable friends invites or to disable them while in-game.

EDIT: Example of what I am talking about: https://streamable.com/3a6mo

EDIT 2: Although we do have the "Do not disturb" mode, I would like the option to turn off the receiving requests from others.

EDIT 3: Do not Disturb does not prevent it from opening itself upon a receiving a friend request

friends has a do not disturb mode. click the arrow next to your name in the friends window.

i will try to use that, even though this is just a work around and not the right solution. Thanks for now.

How is a mode that does exactly what you asked not a solution?

Because what I asked was for to not receive requests at all and not to just stop the notifications.

I don't see how this can actually influence your game, all you get is a small notification which also disappears. Could be my monitor + resolution of course (1920x1080).

Watch the video on the link I posted in the OP, you will see what I am talking about.

It's not just a simple notification, it stops the game by opening the Steam's overlay by its own and I have to let go of my gamepad to make it go away so I can play again. In the video I linked, it goes away very quickly because I am starting to get used to it but I'd rather not to have to deal with this, ever.

The last time it occurred, wich made me create this post, was when I was solo fighting a hard boss (AT Nergigante) of this game called Monster Hunter. And it happened more than once, what is surprising to me, that this tends to happen at the most crucial times.

Just turn off the overlay then. Also lol at Arch Tempered Nergigante being difficult.

How is it not constructive that I gave you suggestions that will solve the problem that you described.

I have beem using the No Disturb mode ever since you sugested it. Today, someone added me and the Steam overlay opened itself again.

Too bad, this solution only hides the notification of new mesages from the people on my list.

I really hope that this could be adressed some day.

Recommending decapitation as a solution for headache is obviously not constructive.

I have to bump this. Had 5 friend requests in an hour, steam overlay popping up like crazy.
Not to mention the spambot is becoming an increasingly serious issue on steam.
Hope Valve can fix it soon:I_am_sad:

Bump. Needs an actual solution, not the "Just disable overlay 4head" crap.
GuRu Asaki Jan 27, 2020 @ 10:32am
This does exactly what you want, it's the Answer...

But if you also want the Option to Block Incoming Requests as well...

I heard people get bombarded with BOT Friend Requests, this
could solve that issue, no?

But this was already a Feature, if it was Removed, it is unlikely going to return...

But it should actually be there... At least I think so...

Ya, I just checked, I am not seeing anything that deals with the so called
Friend Requests... This would annoy me as well, simply because when I
play a Story Mode Game, I don't like any Notifications coming in on my
Screen at all... I even have Action Center in Win10, set to Do Not Distrub,
during certain Times...

Like I want absolute 0 Distractions during a Story of a Game that I wanna
get into...
