Rank the games
  1. Spyro 1 and 2 - Both are great, maybe the 1st one a little more so.
  2. Spyro 3 - Level design seems more basic (no supercharge puzzles) and there's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many minigames and warp zones in the levels which is just annoying, and the boss fights are all the same just picking up things and throwing them. Oh and also way too many playable side characters, makes it less of a Spyro game and more of a random silly character game.

I like the games in the order I first play them:
Spyro 2 with the different level of minigames and superflame, supercharge more often in the level
Spyro 1 nice, but not as many skills
Spyro 3 I don't really like some of the other playable characters and the flying level are way too much difficult :s
I like them in the order of release

Spyro the Dragon:
My all time favourite Spyro game, the game that made me first fall in love with the series back in the day. I have so far completed this one four times since the Reignited Trilogy released on Steam, favourite ost out of the three too.

Spyro: Ripto's Rage:
The next best game, definitely a great sequel to the first one.

Spyro: Year of the Dragon:
While still a great game, definitely enjoyed this one the least. It has some fun moments but does have levels I did not enjoy. Lost Fleet for an example, disliked every minute of that level.

Ripto's Rage: Some nice additions. More interesting level design and quests overall.

Spyro 1: The most basic since it was the first one, but still fun, just not as great as 2 for me.

Year of the Dragon: Still great, but too many vehicles and weird side-stuff that isn't allways fun kinda boycotts the experience.

So far i only finished the first one and im about half way through the second one.

I personally prefer the first one, its just so simple, you collect all gem, save the dragon, and sometime get the egg then you move on the next level.

The second one lose that simple appeal. OH you dont know how to climb the ladder, come 100% this level later if you remember about it. You want to reach this place? well pay up.

So yeah, i honestly prefer the first one to the second one, just because its more simple and relaxing

Am I the only one who loves Year of the Dragon the most out of not just the trilogy, but the series? Seriously, the visuals and graphics are the best of all 3 games, the soundtrack is legendary and all sorts of little improvements, such as the Atlas giving you a hint on the next dragon egg if you get lost.

Even back when I played this for the first time, the alternate gameplay styles and extra characters never bothered me at all. Partially because you're still playing as Spyro for about 85% of the time, the vehicles and different characters still tie in to the core gameplay in some way (even when you're on a skateboard, you're still collecting gems) and all the vehicles were optional content anyway if you're just finishing the game and not going for 100%.

I mean, who doesn't love skateboarding in this game? It may be due to the fact that I played so much Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 & 3 back in the day, but I loved the skateboard sections so much that I almost wanted an entire game dedicated to it. Still, considering how much variety there is in this game, the submarine, tanks, speed boat etc., it all plays way better than it has any right to.

So much ambition went into Spyro 3 Year of the Dragon that I have so much respect for it all these years later. So much could have gone wrong with a game like this, but the team managed to pull it off! While Spyro 1 was a pure, simple collect-a-thon that laid the blueprints for the series and Spyro 2 expanded upon it with minigames and challenges, Year of the Dragon near perfected it with its focus on ambition and technical achievements.

So yeah, my ranking for these games are:
1: Year of the Dragon
2: Original (due to the tighter focus)
3: Gateway to Glimmer (Ripto's Rage in the US)
