Cant build while derelicts overlap
When playing the new station mode, derelicts will move around in the background of your map, slowly drifting towards the edge until they are gone.

Whenever one of these derelicts move under the station, it becomes impossible to construct anything on the station areas that are overlapping with the derelict. In practice this means that whenever this happens, and it WILL eventually happen, you become unable to do anything with your base until the derelict moves away.

This can either be a huge inconvenience to well established stations or an outright death sentence if it happens while you are building critical infrastructure in early game.

We need a way to either allow us to select whether we are interacting with the asteroid or derelict or to completely prevent derelicts from moving under or above the station.

never seen a derelic doing that, maybe im just (un?)lucky, at me derelics have such strange movement vectors that i dont have enove time for most of them to complete strip one, even when i focus on it.

yeah, it moved right towards the middle of the map, right in the area I was building on.

Seems like the devs are aware of the problem but are still not going to fix it for a while as there are other more pressing bugs to deal with. I guess you just need to be lucky enough to not get one moving en route to your base.
ok seen now something like that, a drifting derelic space station and a derelic ship shortly overlaped, that hid shuttles docked at the derelic ship under the stone part of the derelic station.

yep, and the only current way to fix it is to wait until it drifts away from your station.

While it is true that RNG makes them usually show up at the borders of the map and quickly drift away, every now and then a derelict will spawn and drift towards your station, causing this problem.

I am sure they will eventually come up with a permanent solution to the problem!
got an extrem varaint now of that, a homeless shuttle that stand direct under my water purifyer that needed to be replaced, ever got the shuttle as target :(

a little save editing can disappear it, just search for the ship's name in the save file, it'll start with a ship definition <ship sx=## sy=## blah blah sname="<ship_name>" blah, so finding the start is easy, and shift-pgdn til you find the closing </ship> tag and with the whole thing highlighted, tap delete... no more derelict, poof! gone from existence.

re: the shuttle under the purifier, zoom all the way out, so it's just outlines and dots, then you can tag the shuttle diamond, draft it, and move it elsewhere.
I've also seen buggy behavior where derelicts overlap other derelicts and asteroid platforms. I was unable to select crew that overlapped, and they weren't using the airlock properly (maybe were unable to use it). Another time I had crew go to an unoccupied platform that was being overlapped.. almost ending up dead.
yeah there's some glitchy behaviour when they stack more than 2, it's like there's an "above", and then your layer, then a "below"... and when 3, 4, etc. start crossing each other's boundary edges, or 2+ that have overlap drift over your station, things gets wonky. some things work - you can trade with them and as long as the shuttle can get out of the bay, it will dock to the airlock, which if it was already out, no problem, just can't go home... but if it was home, in many cases it can't leave, you'll see the shuttle drop down like it's departing then come right back up, being blocked. then the trade gets "stuck" til the traffic collision resolves itself. which keeps them in the system a gawd awful time, so if you have those recurring services enabled like food or fuel, watch out, they can chew up lots... you'll get paid, of course, but get depleted too.

re: trapped crew, if you zoom all the way out so it's outlines and dots, and select the crew either with a click-n-drag green selection box or via the crew manifest by their pictures (keep clicking pics til the dot you want to select gets a white ring around it) you can then draft em and move em, but on their own, they might suffocate before getting "free" of the pileup. I've been drafting shuttles to get close to the pile-up, then select, draft, and send em to the shuttle... they may fly some goofy patterns jetting around in their spacesuits to get there, but I haven't ran into a situation where they didn't get there.

the frustrating one is when you're still trying to finish exploring a derelict and didn't notice how close the overlap was, and you keep trying to finish your task / mission... nope. flee. run away run away. cause they get dumb. and trying to move them in the overlap area, they'll try to move to the top ship, which if you're on another one, they can't reach, so right-clicking on an area, nothing happens, and you're like WTF is going on?!
