Building a Leisure Station

When I accepted this mission a new ship joined me and a bunch of supplies went to the new ship in a Cargo Shuttle, I assume these supplies are for me to use to build the new station? However I am unable to access the supplies or get the Cargo Shuttle to come over now that I build a Cargo Port.

How am I supposed to build this thing without the supplies or how do I get the supplies??

Click on the mission notification on the right. There should be a button to release the cargo shuttle.

Slight clarification.
You need to build a small "starter" station WITH a cargo port. (Any of the two kinds will do, i prefer the one that is part of the base and will be in O2 zone)
It requires about if i recall well around 8 hull blocks and 2-3 infrablocks alltogether?
Once it is done then can you click on the notification on the right.

As a ship you cannot accept their cargo shuttle.

How the heck do I release it lol. It wanted an OPTIONAL alcohol building I don't have the research for, but it won't let me release the station, says it's still waiting on that?

When i last tried this before 1.0 hit, the alcohol provider i did not research, but it still appeared among the facilities(i think that is where it should be), so you can build it for the station ONLY. Then once everything is built you can release it.
If it is not present anywhere among your building options too bad, you cannot complete it.

im also struggling with this do you need to start new ship for the station? and also dont seem to be able to receive the resources

So when you need to build a station, you get a faction ship as a companion which will travel with you. It also accepts two cargo shuttles. YOU CANNOT HAVE THESE ATTACHED TO YOUR SHIP IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE MISSION.
Once it has everything attached get ready to jump. Wait for it to also be ready, then move to the designated Point of Interest (asteroid field, gas giant whatever) that is marked as you need to build it here.
Go there. There should be a claimable "asteroid space" present. You might need to land with a shuttle and walk with a crew member around to explore it.
Once done, claim it. Now you can build on this asteroid.

In order to be able to utilize the resources in the carog shuttle, you need to build up a small base first. An airlock and a cargo port should suffice on the asteroid. Once done, and the cargo port is ready on the right side a blue icon should blinking slightly allowing you to "release container" or "release cargo" or something along these lines->click on it. Now the cargo shuttle goes to the small stations cargo port. And you can now open it and unload the various resources within. (Good to have a storage bay on the small base, so they do not take everything back to your ship as travelling back and forth with resources costs a lot of time.)

Lol. When I took on a similar mission, the second objective literally read: “Pick up cargo.” Honestly, “Escort construction ship” would have made it MUCH clearer what I was supposed to do.
