this game is a copy of minecraft
gib clown pls

jokes aside, is it actually as annoying to play as the original?

What turned me off was not just the visuals (although there are tileset) but mostly how inaccessible it was, like a management game like this with no mouse control and such is something far too painful to play.

So does it actually got halfway modern controls now? felt all these years that im missing out so I hope I can finally get into it :D

Not what I asked. I asked if the updates for normies actually make it playable for normies that aren't autistic enough to use their keyboard for this genre.

Im aware that its the same game and all, I thought that much is obvious. Its a matter to me of if I'll have cramps playing it or if its as comfortable as lets say Rimworld.

Also thanks for the clown <3

The UI is a huge step up from the original controls and seems to work well. But the game is complex and the UI itself needs to be "learned" to use properly, as I would have expected.

As far as I´m aware the game got an entire UI Overhaul and mouse controls. So while you still can use your keyboard to navigate menues, its by no means required and should offer a much more accessible experience.
I do however suggest checking out some lets play videos of the steam version before you make your final decision instead of listening to me.

UI is much better (not only the tileset, but also the controls). So you can use the mouse to navigate through the map, select things, to do things, you have buttons to click on for the different actions (like mining, chopping trees and so on) etc. and it's overall far better to control than the classic. At least for all basic operations no need to memorize shortcuts.

But still, in the end it's the good old DF with all it's complexity.

Seems like the controls are more user-friendly now, although some keybinds are now different than the original.

I dont mind the complexity as long as its not tedious by controls :)

Many games make it so you have to do a whole lot of unnecessary micromanagement that could've been avoided by just making a good UI.

Good to know though that there are so many good changes ^.^
I've been watching a friend of mine play this version of the game for a few weeks and from what I've seen while it's still complex and still has a steep learning curve the game has a lot more artistic look without sacrificing the mood of the original, there are tutorials now that guide you through the basics of colony operation, and it's easier to tell things apart. If you've had trouble with the complexity of the original you might still have issues with this but it's a lot more approachable.

I plan on getting it as soon as I can since I appreciate how much the developers respect their community but I'm like you-unless the UI makes micromanaging not as annoying as in the original I don't see myself sticking with it long.

I thought that both Minecraft and Rimworld were inspired by Dwarf Fortress.
