Not what I asked. I asked if the updates for normies actually make it playable for normies that aren't autistic enough to use their keyboard for this genre.
Im aware that its the same game and all, I thought that much is obvious. Its a matter to me of if I'll have cramps playing it or if its as comfortable as lets say Rimworld.

I do however suggest checking out some lets play videos of the steam version before you make your final decision instead of listening to me.
But still, in the end it's the good old DF with all it's complexity.
I dont mind the complexity as long as its not tedious by controls :)
Many games make it so you have to do a whole lot of unnecessary micromanagement that could've been avoided by just making a good UI.
Good to know though that there are so many good changes ^.^
I plan on getting it as soon as I can since I appreciate how much the developers respect their community but I'm like you-unless the UI makes micromanaging not as annoying as in the original I don't see myself sticking with it long.
