CHAOS;HEAD
I've been looking at this game as I've enjoyed all the Steins;Gate games that have come out, but I heard that there was a previous game called Chaos;Head that will not likely ever be released to the west.

I am not the best with tech and am not one to mess with emulators too much and prefer to just get legal localized versions, but of course this isn't possible.

What do I need to read/watch/play from where to catch up and have myself satisfied and prepped for Chaos;Child? Can links be provided? Or is the game relatively standalone?

I also heard about Robotic;Notes. What about that?

Edit: I saw someone comment on another thread hat it was made to be accessible to newcomers, but I'd like further confirmation.

I'm not an expert, but you can find some information about patches on vndb:
- Chaos;Head: https://vndb.org/v382
- Chaos;Head Noah: https://vndb.org/v22505

There are English patches for the IOS and Android versions of Noah, as well as the Di-Patch 2.5 for the original PC version, and another patch for that version that isn't officially available online anymore.

For example, you could buy the original Japanese PC version, apply the Di-Patch 2.5, and play the game using the Japanese system locale. But don't ask me how good this patch is, and whether it actually works, and this won't let you play Noah (which I heard is the definitive version).

Thank you, I thought so.

Also, idk about that, there are some messed up horrors on here. Like two of the Corpse Party games (pre-PSP PC version of the original and Book of Shadows). (We're supposed to be awaiting three more [Blood Drive, Sachiko's Hysteric Birthday, and Dead Patient], but they were announced for the winter and behold it's practically spring right now so I'm not holding my breath). Even Steins;Gate got into some gruesome territory what with the predestined deaths and the Jellyman Project. Then you also got games like the Strange Man series, Cry of Fear, Amnesia, Mad Father and Misao, Higurashi...

There's some serious ♥♥♥♥ on Steam, so Idk about Chaos;Head not having a chance of localization for those reasons. Granted I just started playing because someone was nice enough to link a download for me, but it doesn't seem THAT different yet. From what I heard, it's mainly an issue with one of the rights holders.

Someone was nice enough to send me a download for the original, which I started last night. Keeping this thread up to gather more info, though. Tell me, with that established, would Noah also be worth playing? What's the difference between that and the original? The person who sent me the link had rather broken english, but I think they meant to say that the difference was minimal, but I want to make sure.

I don't know much about the differences between the original and Noah, except for the info that can be found on vndb. The Noah page says:

"Chaos;Head NoAH is the Director's Cut release of Chaos;Head, adding 6 new routes, changes to the story, new CGs and a revamped True Ending."

Also, the original is rated 15+ in most countries, while Noah goes up to 18+ in some countries / versions.
So from that data, it looks like Noah is a revised and uncensored version with more content.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Ah, that sounds more than minimal changes, then. If I wanted to download Noah too, then that link would take me to both a download and a patch?

In Reddit, they say that Noah, moar than a "revised" or "director's cut" version, is the definitive version of C;H. The new content adds much moar deep stuff about the chars and the story itself.

I completed C;H (PC version + DiPatch 2.5, all 4 endings) and the truth is that I was pushing myself to play it about 2/3 of the game.

That's the original, right? so is that you saying you don't care much for C;H, or are you referring to replaying with Noah? I'll be honest, the two sections of your comment don't seem that connected and I'm left rather confused.

Chaos;Head Noah adds about 50% more content, all of which is essential to the original work and some of which sets the basis for the entire SciADV series. The bulk of the in-depth characterization is exclusive to the heroine routes and the intermissions in Noah, and these routes also expand on and close several plotlines, as well as exploring new ones.

It's clear upon reading Noah that the entirety of it was planned from the beginning, and they likely released an incomplete release (the only one available in English) to gather funds and interest, as they would release Noah and Steins;Gate the following year.

There's no current translation of Chaos;Head Noah; as I said, only the first, incomplete release has been translated, albeit the translation is also subpar. Long ago someone ported the *incomplete* translation to mobile, and added a *machine* translation of the rest; it's completely unreadable.

Chaos;Head Noah hasn't been officially localized because of licensing issues, and probably never will. In short, Nitroplus holds a large stake of the release, partially because of the engine. This, among other issues, means the likelihood of a PC release (and more so an official localization) is close to none.

However, Committee of Zero is current translating and porting Noah to PC. The port is progressing steadily, although it will take long before it's done due to the nature of the project; the translation is progressing quite slowly, as the translator has a busy life, but we don't intend to ever halt the project unless it were to be released officially.

Even though Chaos;Head lacks an extreme amount of story and characterization without the content in Noah, it's still advisable to read the release available in English. It contains the common route, which a lot of people love, and some even consider their favorite experience in SciADV due to how varied each title is. Just make sure to read both the ending AA (true ending) and the ending B (which offers important information).

Ok, let me make sure I got this straight:

-Get those couple endings, at least (I tend to explore all endings anyways)
-there's only a little of Noah available in English, so I wouldn't really be able to explore it

What about the links provided to me here? (I haven't tried them yet)

Some conflicting information, but I just want to know straight what my options for Noah are. There shouldn't be a complete version for me to play, right? So my download of the original Chaos;Head is the best option I got right now?

Sorry, I took a closer look at the linked patches for the mobile versions of Noah: Looks like the translations are indeed incomplete, and it's probably like Ice mentioned, i.e. that there's currently no actual translation of Noah.

Alright, good to know. Thanks, everyone. Thread is still open for any additional takes or info people want to contribute.
