Honestly, impoppable WITHOUT being allowed to utilize powers (that's another argument entirely, I think powers ruined the game awhile ago, because the devs just wanted cash and a way to implement micropay) would be enough for "most difficult setting" in Bloons.
Starting you a few rounds ahead is just obnoxious. If you're going to do that, then allow for income. Hell, income is part of the strategy in Bloons. You plan out how you're going to get your monkey farms started and then booming so you can have plenty of resources. CHIMPS mode takes an entire element out of the game.
Sub Commander is great, but it still doesn't make any map it can be on a joke. It's definitely powerful, but CHIMPS is still brutal to a fault.
I'm aware a lot of people appreciate or like the insane difficulty aspect of it, but my point is still that it basically stops being Bloons when you're unable to use abilities for a bunch of towers, simply because they have income. Again, that has always been part of the game strategy. Taking it away just cheapens the entire game and experience.
Also, on a side note, who remembers when you could throw down a sniper (I think this was only back in BTD5) and then use Advanced Intel with subs, and cover the entire map instantly? That was amazing. Cheap as hell, and I see why they patched it out, but my goodness it was glorious while the option to do that was there.
I feel like removing income was necessary. Once you start farming, the game becomes easy as hell. Seriously, having 15 banks with Ben and waiting 10 rounds just to end up with $150,000 makes the game WAY too easy. People have managed to get a maxed Temple of the Vengeful Monkey before round 100. It's fine in a regular game, but in "the true test of a BTD master" it becomes an issue.
I know it's possible to beat CHIMPS. I did it when I had the game for a tablet. Going through it again on PC I'm finding it less enjoyable. A big issue is the time wasted. However fast the speeding up is, it would be nice to throw in a 4x and 8x speed up, just so you can plow through those earlier levels and get to where you screwed up. It's not fun or enjoyable watching the same weak waves go by at such a slow pace. Even worse when you're given that smack in the face, starting on round 3, losing that important bit of cash that comes from the first couple of rounds.
Honestly, the mode seems more geared towards masochists than anything else.
Actually, you start on round 6. And with the recent price nerf to Obyn, the early rounds are even harder. I agree with the need of a fasterforward because 3x just isn't enough sometimes. Especially when you're literally always using it, it ends up feeling like the default speed and turning it off feels like a slow down. I was actually taking with a friend about that earlier today and had joked if it were added they'd make it a $15 DLC. Then I remembered Double Cash actually costs $18. :(
