Somebody please explain bridge building
I literally cannot build one of their specific bridges over any sort of water without running into a mountain of can't build on water, too high, too low, too steep errors.

Like I'm literally trying to build the simplest bridge humanely possible over the tiniest little bit of water, yet you literally cannot do it. Why is this building system so completely stupid in a literal city building game? How the ♥♥♥♥ are you supposed to build a bridge when you apparently can't have any supports for that bridge be built in water. What the actual flying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥?

So far, I only managed to build bridges over water by placing both ends at 5m to 10m above ground level. I build the bridge first, then the ramps at both ends.

try increasing your elevation. At standard height it doesnt seem to want to cross over water but i bumped it up 1 click of full elevation and had no problem placing.

What he sais! Usually you have to go at least up 1.25m but usually for larger bridges its more. Just use the height tool when placing the bridge.
Also you should check that any double bridges do not collide with each other (usually the problem when highwasy are too close to each other) - use the toggel for larger gap between roads.
Make sure you terraform each end of the bridge to flat land to avoid colisions with certain terrain features.(remeber to still increase the height of the bridge a bit)
Do not place bridges by continuing a road - this usually looks ugly and brings the mentioned collisionproblems. - Place the bridge first and connect the roads later.
Make sure you do not overlook any other interfering objects or map boundaries(this can be especially a problem at the beginning where you have little land unlocked but want to build further away.
Sounds - fiddly, but its like with the propper grid-zoning - you have to get used to the tools and then its a piece of cake.

I was doing this today, I found you get pillars at 8.75m, anything below that you will probably get the cement barrier looking stuff between the road and the water and like someone else said, build the bridge first and the ramps after.
