Forged Alliance Forever (commonly abbreviated to FAF) is a community-driven project designed to ensure that Forged Alliance will live on… forever. It is a complete lobby client system, similar to that of GPGNet was, the default client provided with Forged Alliance, but with many improvements:

Updated game. FAF is not only a lobby, and it’s not a mod: We are constantly adding features, graphics and sounds enhancements, bug fixes and balance patches to the game.

Active development. GPGNet is dead. Steam version won’t be updated. FAF is under active development to continually add new and exciting features, and ensure that any bugs discovered will be quickly dealt with.

Longevity. FAF is a community-supported project, and already has funding to support its server for several years.

Cooperative campaign. The solo mode of Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance (a total of 24 missions) are playable with up to four players in cooperation! Fight for the best time in the speed-run leader board !

Live replays are always on and always working, with a 5-minutes delay to remove the possibility of cheating during tournaments or ranked games.

Exciting new game modes such as the Nomads (an entirely new playable faction), Experimental Wars (adds many new units to the game), Black Ops, Murder Party, LAB WARS, Phantom X, and many more featured mods. All are integrated directly into the client so it’s easy to setup a game with others, and even come with their own Leader boards.

Automatic patching. This means you will have the latest patch without any sweat. The client can also downgrade immediately to see older replays.

TrueSkill rankings for both ranked 1v1 and all custom games. TrueSkill is a vastly superior rating system which can accurately take into consideration 2v2s, 3v3s, 4v4s, FFAs, and any other game type.

Responsiveness. Chat is fast, unlimited, and can be joined with any IRC client, even on your smart-phone. FAF is designed from the ground up to be lightweight, responsive, and efficient.
12 player games. 5v5s and 6v6s are possible on FAF.

Non-destructive patching. It patches the game separately from your current installation. That means that you can continue to use your original game and FAF concurrently – they do not “overwrite” each other.

Short answer: It fixes a lot of the problems with the original game while keeping it balanced and adding a lot of new features such as improved match making, cooperative campaigns and a built in map and mod downloader so you dont have to worry about figuring out how to download and install them.

No offense but we already got tons of these same exact threads saying the same exact thing all over these forums. Please, just stop posting them. I can link a dozen identical posts if I had the time to search each page and store the addresses but this isn't worth that time. We even had discussions in other threads how this is annoying.

Then ignore it and move on with your life. Front page of this hub doesn't have a single thread on it right now other than one person asking what it is and not even a link to the site.

Games on the Humble Bundle right now, figured this info should be easily seen from the front page without having to go searching for info for the new players.

FAF is great you guys should defenitly check it out. There are some haters but best things is to just try it and get your own opinion.

(especially since there has just been a Co-op campain for both vanilla and FA supreme commander been put in place)

I agree, if you're new to FA I would recommend you try out FAF. I personally do not use it, and I would disagree with anyone who says that "faf is better then steam" without the proper qualifications for such a statement.

Its not resentment, I just am not willing to tolerate that kind of environment. Thats why I am on Steam, because I can post without having to wonder if some admin is going to come along and remove what I say because they don't like it.

This thread was created about FAF, and so in the interests of impartiality I wanted to provide an opinion that wasn't soley there to try and boost FAF numbers.

I am open to a constructive discussion about the pros and cons of FAF, but I don't think you'll be able to provide me with any evidence to allay the concerns I have.

you have the concern that the one who does all the work is the admin? strange concern.. seriously you should just stop beeing mad about something that was somewhen last winter.. if you remember we were at the same opinion back then, the only difference was that you ran away

If leaving following an unjustified ban is running away, then yes I am guilty as charged.

I'm not mad, and I am not concerned that the person who does most of the work is the admin. What did concern me was that the admin engaged in childish tantrums when people disagreed with them. Childish tantrums I can ignore, but when that person is censoring your posts arbitrarily, labelling you publicly as a troll, and removing you from chat when you disagree with them I think my position becomes easier to understand.

I have no desire to return while I have no protection from that kind of abusive behaviour. It doesn't seem to me like an unreasonable position to take.

You seem convinced that it was a one off issue? I found this kind of problem on FAF to be recurrent. Besides, it is relevant to the thread.
