Honestly, I'm kind of surprised they haven't tackled it head on yet. It would be rather interesting to meet their previous "owner". Then have a confrontation eitheer involving them trying to get them back, then the owner more or less accepting it and giving closure to the situation. Or finding out that they were just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ person who just wanted catgirls because potatoes, then just abandoned them.
After the "animals" are too big, they will abandoned because there need more and more after that
I kind of like how they just left it open ended. They hinted at a number of reasons as to why it could have happened. Sometimes it seems like games try to solve everything and it is more true to life that sometimes things just happen and you never know the why or the how.
