Mod Recommendations Please!!

I am an experienced TW player and have been enjoying the Remastered version with a couple mods. My recent campaign I played with the Julii with the Mundus Magnus Map & Rome Rerostered II mods.

Any mod recommendation to improve gameplay/replay value? I've been looking for a mod that adds unique legion units for Romans/other factions. For example, in Roma Surrectum have "Legio III, Legio II" unique units, but I'm not a fan of other major changes from that mod so I don't play with it.

RTR:IS. Using it currently and struggling if I'm honest. Might be old age
Plays a lot slower due to the financial constraints, Something to savour. Hard to believe that I enjoy playing a game this old more than the CA's current crop. They should wake up and listen.

I'll be trying it out soon! Yeah I hope they expand the map, that's ones thing I love about other mods.

I just started an Antigonoid campaign actually :), the financial struggle is real but I'm hoping it gets more manageable. I do like how there are a lot of rebel settlements so it feels like I'm expanding my kingdom without going to war with factions right away

My top three total overhaul mods you have to try:

RTR:IS or Rome Total Realism Imperium Surrectum. Try that one, for sure.
Total Conquest mod, very good scripting, very good mod.
Wars of the Late Republic - Play as Julius Freaking Caesar, with Mark Antony, Pompey, Cleopatra, Levinus, Cato, all the larger than life characters from this one generation.

Total Conquest 2.0: Great Scripting adds a lot of flavor to this mod, great mechanics all around.

Simply titled "Officers" simple mod adds Officers to most units from most factions. Original Wonders mod is also good. There's a couple of UI mods that are good also.

RTR: I've tried out this mod a couple times. Is it me or is it very dark both in battle and on the campaign map? Also is there a faction you recommend? I played like 40 turns with Rome and it wasn't bad, I just didn't like how many missiles were used...it felt a lot like Rome II lol

TC: I feel like this mod is incomplete, am I wrong in saying that? I have tried this one only for a couple turns. Any faction recommendations? I feel like ones this mod gets updated with more units and factions it could be really good because it's trying to stick to the original Rome feel

Late Republic: I haven't tried this one yet. It does interest me because of the characters. Thanks for the suggestion!

I don't want drastic overhauls such as chivalry total war. An expanded map, some new units & factions are what I'm looking for
