What is your opinion on the snow fox?

I would like to hear some opinions about the snow fox and if it is worth making after all.

Don't bother, either by feet or use the prawn suit.

it's a safe spot where you can heat yourself, it's relatively fast, can be put in your inventory (pretty large: 4x4) and not so pricy to craft so I like having it. ho, and it only use battery so I think it's worth for the land exploration part

There's an achievement for making one. So, make one if you want that. Ignore it otherwise.

Never built one. The Prawn was just fine for surface travel.

Arguably not. As Ice Worms can knock you off even when you aren't near one and even though the Prawn Suit's hook mechanics are gimped you can still get a lot of speed outta it. Could also just strafe glide with the Prawn Suit for speed.

I used a Snow Fox on the basin for a short while. As Sky mentioned, it does let you heat yourself so you can use it for that if you really want. Prawn suit is even easier, and even without either you can typically make it on land areas just fine thanks to the plentiful heat flowers and/or peppers and multitude of caves that block the cold.

Another option, especially on the area with tons of titanium veins, you can always plop down a hatch/multipurpose room to stay warm if you aren't near a cave or something. It isn't necessary at all given all the other things to use, but is an option. Then you can leave it there as an outpost or break it down and rebuild it elsewhere as you need it.

I don't feel the hatred for it that some people do. At least in terms of ease to maneuver, I think it is 'fine'. But it is just outclassed by the prawn and even with the possibility of not having that yet, you can generally just move on foot without issues in the majority of land areas even if you come unprepared.

Worked okay for me.. i beat the game without a prawn suit.
But it seemed to get stuck all the time. It would get caught on pieces of terrain a lot.
Being able to pack it up, go up ladders, and then put it down was cool.

The worms knocking you off was annoying, you have to repair it a lot. I'm not sure what devs expected us to do? But I scanned body part and got out.

Still way better than walking and it cost almost nothing

I built one, rode it for 3 minutes, laughed and never used it again.
At least I got the achievement for it...

I built it, but the controls were clunky. I'm sure I would have gotten used to them eventually, but I just didn't see the point of using it. You get to places a bit faster, but you also get stuck on terrain more. Also, when I used it, the snowworms seemed to attack me much more, and with pinpoint accuracy, as opposed to when going on foot. So, overall, not really worth it at all, and superseded by the prawn suit.

As others have mentioned, you can use it as a mobile heat source. I actually do think it's useful in that way - I don't want to be thinking about where the next cave or other heat source is.
