This. They immediately lose interest if you have nothing in your hands. Put away your seaglide for a split second, pull it back out again, and keep going.
You can also steal it right back from the Seamonkey. Chase it down and mash LMB until it appears back in your hands.
Yet more edit - I also find it fun pulling out a propulsion cannon around a couple so that they DO get interested, and then playing basketball with them.
Really if Seamonkeys are a game breaker wonder how many games the OP can play? Every game has it's nemesis and most of them are much worse. Crashfish are mine, I so hate those little buggers, but so not a game breaker.
In Subnautica the stalker were an irritating and the Warper was a big PITA but not a game breaker.
Do you know you can ride the Lily Paddler? That is a fun ride!
I will do nothing to discourage them.
Pointlessly frustrating and undoing someones work is one of the best ways to discourage and demotivate human beings from doing anything.
The first time one got me, I promptly swam after it mashing LMB and literally saying "gimme that back" out loud. It worked, I got my flashlight back.
They're really not a big deal.
Wonder if they give up that fast on everything in life? Geez it is just a simple mechanic that can be easily be avoided and solved. There are much worse things than Seamonkeys.
Isn't *every* game about learning new mechanics, adapting and overcoming them?
Adapt, overcome, throw in bioreactor.
