Worst Mechanic in the Game
I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Loved. Subnautica.....Having said that, Subnautica; Below Zero is a frustrating let-down. Literally 15 minutes into the game I learned that there are creatures that can take tools from me....sorry...deal breaker. Not a fun mechanic. It, just, isn't....fun...

just put the tool away while you're near sea monkeys.. problem solved. Not a huge issue imo.

This. They immediately lose interest if you have nothing in your hands. Put away your seaglide for a split second, pull it back out again, and keep going.

You can also steal it right back from the Seamonkey. Chase it down and mash LMB until it appears back in your hands.

Yet more edit - I also find it fun pulling out a propulsion cannon around a couple so that they DO get interested, and then playing basketball with them.

I believe cougarific may now have enough urls to construct a seamonkey index post. Lets see it!

The odd thing is that it's not like this is something the devs just dreamed up completely out of left field. There are definitely species in this world that have an eye for shiny things for no apparent reason (a couple species of birds jump to mind).

LOL Seamonkeys win again! Go monkeys!!

Really if Seamonkeys are a game breaker wonder how many games the OP can play? Every game has it's nemesis and most of them are much worse. Crashfish are mine, I so hate those little buggers, but so not a game breaker.

In Subnautica the stalker were an irritating and the Warper was a big PITA but not a game breaker.

Why get so mad at Sea Monkeys, jeeezzzzz. As others said, put tools away, EASY problem solved. Dont see how putting away a tool is that annoying from one key press lol.

This is just such a petty thing to complain about. The sea monkeys look cool and add some personality to the game. I like them.

Do you know you can ride the Lily Paddler? That is a fun ride!

I enjoy Seamonky-related threads immensely (unless they're about feeding them to the bioreactor).

I will do nothing to discourage them. :steamhappy:

Good news then! I feed them to the bioreactor!

I think the devs will eventually look at telemetry stats. They will find a surprising correlation between the events: "Sea Monkey stealing tools in early game", and "New Player quit never to be seen again"...

Pointlessly frustrating and undoing someones work is one of the best ways to discourage and demotivate human beings from doing anything.

The tool doesn't magically vanish just because the monkey stole it. You can actually come back hours later (realtime) and retrieve the tool, you just have to spot the monkey swimming around with it in its hands.

The first time one got me, I promptly swam after it mashing LMB and literally saying "gimme that back" out loud. It worked, I got my flashlight back.

They're really not a big deal.

Wonder if they give up that fast on everything in life? Geez it is just a simple mechanic that can be easily be avoided and solved. There are much worse things than Seamonkeys.

Minecraft Correlation: "New players don't immediately realize you can punch trees for wood" and "New player quits."

Isn't *every* game about learning new mechanics, adapting and overcoming them?

Adapt, overcome, throw in bioreactor.
I run seamonkeys down with my truck... :lunar2019coolpig:
