And yes, mention censorship (or perceived censorship) in your reviews, that's all good, just don't write a negative review solely to complain about this one minor aspect.
In some way this is false marketing
I especially created a thread here not for the discussion but rather to show how many people will not buy the game immediately or in general
Boycotting something because of a decision the publisher made is okay, as a customer we can decide if we agree with that or not and like you already said
It's okay to discuss this in a rational no insulting and toxic way, but closing threads for the sake of "we dont want to talk about this anymore" makes people angry
Its more in the line of bonus scenes I assume, but for me those kinds of things are important too. Or maybe even especially. I still remember Ghostlight removed my favorite character (who was a DLC from a previous game). That was also 'bonus' but it certainly doesnt make me feel inclined to play that game.
Something can be a negative review for someone over a single aspect. All it takes is that single thing being just big enough to move a review from ''recommend'' to ''not recommend''
For example right now im on the fence because the price is a bit too high (tho launch discount helps a little with that), possible controller issues, and the censorship (really depends on what is censored). With lastly being that I have a huge backlog as it is, but that one is entirely on me and not on this game. Still means im less likely to buy it, tho.
I dont write reviews, but if I did and I got this game but it still had controller issues and censored something I'd like to see, I'd be likely to write ''not recommend''. I would explain why, and that it might be a recommend for someone that doesnt have those as cons. But it would still be ''not recommend'' all the same.
That's the thing about reviews (or how they should be) on steam. Its all about recommending a game. Not saying its amazing or terrible. Negative reviews just mean ''not recommended'' and its for the possible buyer to check if the reason for that is enough for them or if it might even convince them to buy it.
Another example would be that I'd still recommend Eien no Aselia on steam even with the H-content cut out, since the H-content was pretty terrible and didnt flow well with the story anyway. In contrast to the second game which I wouldnt recommend for someone that cares about H-content if not for the user made content-restoration patch.
Cons and pros are there to be listed. Whether its enough for a negative or positive review is up to the reviewer to decide. And whether its enough to warrant a buy or not buy, thats up to a prospective buyer to decide.
Personally I try to read both negative and positive reviews these days (tho focusing on those rare view that are constructive and can both do well deserved praise and well deserved critism)
The steam version is the same for everyone then, jp included?
whole scenes were removed, sexual jokes, gay jokes, jokes about artificial limbs (sachika; on the fence about this, I do wonder how those was handled in the jp version), events with violence towards children (which kinda doesn't make sense because of what the game is about - they're not really children, the clones go through lifespans - if you PLAY the game you'll automatically know it's not about that) or violent (in non-sexual way) scenes towards children were removed
•PlayStation®4 Packaging art ◦In order to conform to public storefront display standards, images that can be interpreted as too sexually provocative must be modified.
•Sachika Bedroom Scene CGIs ◦In the Japanese release, Sachika's panties are visible. In the Western release, Sachika is wearing pajama bottoms.
•Sachika CGI in the Opening Scene ◦In the Japanese release, Sachika's panties are visible. In the Western release, the camera angle has been raised to not show Sachika's panties.
•Child Rinko Extend Machine CGI ◦In the Japanese release, Child Rinko covers her chest with her arms. In the Western release, the position of her arms has been adjusted.
•All “Child” bedtime event cutscenes removed
Not saying you're lying but that's the official statement.
This is what I mentioned in the topic I made. I was told that this was incorrect and only the CGs were changed.
If scenes were removed, I think we would have to find examples.
Going by this logic we should be allowed to post nude children in sexy poses anywhere on the internet. Everyone's already seen nude children apparently so its ight
Definitely for drawings.
For real children, you have this thing called consent that would prevent it from being acceptable.
And yeah, the thing about loli fans is, I know a number of them and not one has ever hinted at wanting to do anything gross to like.. actual human beings, IRL. Quite the contrary. And not one of them has been like "Know where I can find some photo stuff?", because that too is gross and wrong, in addition to being criminal. It's like... you play a first-person shooter, you don't get people around you saying "Get away from me! You're planning a massacre, I just know it!" Right? And if you read or watch a lot of murder mysteries, you don't get all your friends turning paranoid that you will one day murder them, do you? Fiction, real life, they don't necessarily overlap.
