Underwater Headless Duo
This boss fight is pure cancer, camera angle is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ here you can't see any of the projectiles that is coming towards you, and the underwather mechanics in this games aren't that amazing and not suited for fights.

And that tracking hair missile attack is BS especialy when they both start spamming at the same time.
I think this is literaly the worst miniboss/boss fight in the entire game, the mechanics of the game are totally against you in this fight.

Easiest way to do underwater headless is to just lock on and dodge in circles around him, holding down R1 whenever you see an opening to attack then immediately backing out and continuing to circle. Essentially the hit and run approach.

It also helps to have a decent stock of pacifying agent or to buy the purple gourd from the merchant near the Mibu Village idol.

Dude, underwater headless are way easier than normal ones. Are you using the antidote thing before diving? also you can evade very fast underwater and dash attack with massive range.

I'm kind of on the fence about this particular fight. Yeah, it's cancerous to fight 1v2 minibosses, but with the way their projectiles work all you need is to be patient. The first time I fought them, I won in 2 tries. The second playthrough, it took me like 5 or something because I wanted to rush.

Yeah, it is a lil annoying because you're being shot at from another enemy but I didn't really think it was all too great of a struggle. In fact, the other headless boss that was underwater was a complete joke.

It's a bit annoying but I found that there's a structure right next to the actual headless (not the bluish illusion one) that you can swim to for cover after going in and taking a couple of swings. Is probably the safest strategy provide it you time your attacks right. The structure seems pretty much made for the fight as you can see both headless coming out to the left of it which lets you see what they're doing before you try and get some hits in.

The non-boss Headless dies way easier, start with that one. Divine Confetti works wonders, too.

Kill the peripheral headless first, he has regular mob-toer health. Besides that they're not any harder to kill than the other underwater headless. Just do underwater dashes into lunge attack as you circle around him and find openings. His ability is much easier to dodge underwater where you're not speed-capped due to his illusory mist.

Or just skip them entirely since all they give you is one of those emblem gourds, and are thus unnecessary for any kind of character or story progression.

This was my strategy for my first playthrough. It allows you to completely ignore the phantom Headless and focus on the actual one.

I went in thinking I was going to have to fight two headless. I was kind of relieved when the other one disappeared lol.

No clue why people struggle with this. When I first found that guy, I didn't even realize there are two, I just killed the dude, and found out in youtube videos that there are actually two.
You just have to buff your weapon with confetti and take a sip of the purple cup before going into the water, making the fight a joke. Just swim in circles around him and do charged attacks, he will go down in 15 seconds.

If you go for the illusion first its pretty easy. I recall I one comboed him pretty much (or similar) and had to do a double take due to how fast it died, but then I realised I went for the illusion on accident, heh.
