Protection...what exactly is it?
We have Physical resistance, impact resistance, and protection. What is protection?

So, I did some science with Protection and Resistance. I had a Pearlbird hit me at several stat ranges (everytime I had full health). My Results were as follows:

Naked: 18 Damage (2 Max Health Burned)
1 Protection & 9 Phys Res: 15 Damage (2 Max Health Burned)
2 Protection & 14 Phys Res: 14 Damage (1 Max Health Burned)
3 Protection & 20 Phys Res: 12 Damage (1 Max Health Burned)
4 Protection & 28 Phys Res: 10 Damage (1 Max Health Burned)
5 Protection & 34 Phys Res: 9 Damage (1 Max Health Burned)
6 Protection & 43 Phys Res: 7 Damage (1 Max Health Burned)
7 Protection & 48 Phys Res: 6 Damage (1 Max Health Burned)

0 Protection & 34 Phys Res: 12 Damage (1 Max Health Burned)

From the Data I've created it would seem that Protection is a 1 to 1 Damage reduction (probably for all damage) which is reduced first, then Resistances seem to be a 1% damage reduction afterward to whatever type of resistance it is.

Feel free to check my math and all that, i could've gotten something wrong. Love you all!:steamhappy:

Physical migrate reduction..

It directly reduces damage you take by a percentage. Not sure exactly what percentage. But with 5 protection (blue sand armor), a weapon that deals 28 damage only deals about 7 damage to me.

thank you @Nilliks, that were my assumptions as well.
Also it seems that a dmg bonus of 10 on the armor means 10%. Is a bit confusing here, as some stuff is shown with % like movespeed modifiers, but resistance and dmg bonus is not.

Not all heroes wear capes. OP, mark this guy as your answer.

Not sure how it works, anyone know what 100% resistances actually does, I think it's possible for physical damage, but I haven't seen any info on it.

One of the end game armor sets with 68 physical resistance + Amplified Runic Protection (20%) and Master of Motion(15%). If my math is right that's 103 total physical resistance.

Would that mean that technically you shouldn't take any damage from physical sources? Would you be immune to regular melee damage?

I've tested protection myself. It does absolutely nothing for non-physical damage. Ice witch hit me for the exact same damage naked as in full tsar armor.

i think you still get hit by 1 damage but i never tested that too much, anyway it's pretty over powered.

As a side note, you seem to be completly imune to elemental damage with the elemental immunity potion so you can be Immortal in the game by haing the Tsar set+master of motion(with the buff)+rune armor+ elemental immunity potion.

Again...seems a major oversight since this is not really explained but it's easy to make, rendering the game posibly boring:)
it uses the old system from other RPG:
Physical defence is just a % reduction in damage
Protection is just Absorbtion of physical damage
So if you get hit by 10 damage and have 2 protection and 50 physical defence then it's 10-2 prot(it's always first) and you are left with 8 wich is reduced by 50% = 4 damage.
Impact damage and impact resistance is a very nice mechanic but it becomes overpowered for the player because we can deal huge amounts of impact damage:D

You can also use light armor with no protection like the pearlescent mail and use buffs to get only high physical defence and to make you run faster because you have no debuffs but the same damage reduction

If it was going to be useful for anything, Protection (and Barrier) would apply AFTER resistance. The fact that they apply before resistance makes them completely worthless.

I mean think about it... you've got a percent reduction, and then a flat point reduction.
Imagine you had... say... 50% physical resistance and 10 Protection... and something does 200 damage (physical) to you. If you apply 10 protection, it becomes 190... then half that and you get 95 damage. So effectively your physical resistance actually lowers the effectiveness of the protection by half along with the damage... which makes no sense whatsoever.
