Playing co op with a friend soon, anything i need to know?
Got this to play with a friend soon, i do remember playing this game at launch and having a blast, how seemless is the co op?

Does my friend need to play part of the opening before going in so i can inform them ahead of time?

I saw an update about an 'open campaign', what is this?

Anything specific you think i should know to inform ahead of time?

Thanks a bunch

As I understand it, you can start a fresh co-op game together and take it from the very top. Though if you have some familiarity with the game he might want to play a little bit of the game solo to get the hang of controls, learn the UI lauyout, make sure he's got his framerate relatively stable, etc.

Open Campaign is a campaign mode with only one mission goal: Build and activate the final Rift Portal back to Earth. None of the step-by-step guidance of going through mission to gradually introduce things like the Story Campaign mode does. You still have to research new technologies, but there are no missions required to unlock them first. Devs have stated that it is definitely NOT intended for players who aren't already highly familiar with the game- it's intended for players with at least one full campaign under their belts who want to try alternate strategies, progression paths, and/or starting in different biomes other than the traditional forest and any first-time players who opt for Open mode can expect to struggle HARD unless they're exceptionally fast studies and quick thinkers.
menu does not pause the game , so if one of you is afk , it is advised to do that in the base
Resources are all shared. I suggest taking turns building and hunting if you aren't used to sharing resources. If your friend is new they'll need to take a while to learn all the buildings anyway.

Menu doesn't pause the game, but there is a pause button in the menu, so you can indeed pause everything when you need to.
