Chapter XIV Protecting Beatrice Bug

I'm stuck on the part when Hugo needs to protect Beatrice from the guards. I just have to use the rats to defend but they go all in on the first 3 guards. I watched videos and read walkthrough on this part and what needs to happen is that small group of rats attack the guards not all in them. I have no rats to use for the next guards.

I tried to start over from the beginning of the chapter and reinstalling the game. I somehow got past through the archer by letting the rats attack when the guard is near Beatrice but when the last 4 guards show, they ignore the rats and head straight to Beatrice.

Got this issue too, controlling the rats just ends up with you using the entire hordes on the first 3 guards, leaving you with not enough rats to progress. Anyone have found a fix for this yet?

I also have this problem and I'm freaking it out, I hope they do a patch to fix this bug

same problem. This game seems to hardcode some part of the game with framerates and if your machine is too fast it glitched out. Earlier in the game, I couldn't walk pass one point until I turn on vsync.

Too bad. I'll just quit the game and watch youtube walkthrough for the rest of the game.

I am not sure if you have already figured it out but I had this issue today I tried googling too finally I found a working solution.

You need to reduce the Frame Rate (YES! weird) .. Up the resolution , turn on the V-Sync even then if you are getting more frames/same issue then increase the resolution scale too. It worked for me

My monitor is 240Hz so V-Sync didn't help in my case , I increased my resolution to 4K still I got high frame rates so I increased the Resolution scale (or Render scale) in game and my FPS was around 130 the bug cleared. Let me know if for works for you

Thank you guys so much for helping me get past this part. I swear I tried it about 15 times attempting to only use a few rats for each soldier so I had some to spare before reading your comments. I switched over to 60hz and it was so easy...

Been banging my head against the wall trying to figure this issue out too. Found this thread and enabled vsync in game but it was still happening. I was going to up the resolution to 4k as suggested, have a 2k 144Hz monitor, but figured increasing the resolution scale might work. Bumped that to 150% with vsync on and I am done with Chapter 14.

Wow. What a weird bug! I've never had that before but the last time I played I had my old PC. It wasn't good enough to cause the issue!

Next time I play, I'll bear this in mind. I went in-game a couple of days back to try to help someone with an issue in chapter 2 and noticed that all my settings are now ramped up to Ultra, etc.

Who'd have thought that having a better PC would cause problems?

Extremely weird glitch! I can confirm that simply changing the resolution above optimal settings worked for me. I tried this particular sequence around 15 times and just kept getting the same results, with hordes of rats swarming the first 3-4 enemies, leaving you with no rats to swarm the rest. I simply upped the resolution +1 from 1440p (which is what my monitor supports) and was able to get past this part the first time after doing so. Great game but, what the hell?!

Wow, glad I found this. Same bug, basically running out of rats, and upping the Resolution Scale to 200% dropped my frame-rate to 60 and it worked fine after that. Sheesh, wish they'd patch this.

This fixed it for me as well. I almost uninstall the game due to frustrations. I tried like more than 20 times

yep. Thanks to those who found that capping the framrates allowed the game to function properly when controlling the rats during this part of chapter 14. I went into nvidia control panel and set the max framerate to 120fps. I loaded the game and finally, the rats behaved as they were supposed to... Hugo commands them to attack the first guard and many do but after, many draw back available to command to attack the next guard and so on... I was able to complete the chapter. Thanks!

Thank you everyone. That was driving me crazy. Set a max Frame of 59 on graphics card and finished it first try. 🥹

This worked for me! Thank you so much. Had all my settings maxed out so I’m only left with maxing out my resolution scale to 200%
