You can start with Arise and go back to other games whenever you feel like it.
I don't know about the rest but this one is one of the best game I've ever played. Obviously you could very well not get the same mileage out of it but its for sure a great game. It has excellent combat, good companions, nice love story and the best, a awesomely satisfying ending.
Symphonia is the oldest, so it has less quality of life on it. Might pick that one to start. If you want to play the rest of the series you'll have to emulate, tho. Phantasia, Eternia, Abyss, Destiny R, Graces f, Xillia/Xillia 2, Innocence R, Hearts R...a bunch of games still missing a PC release.
Avoid the Berseria-haters; they just cry about the art design and don't understand the story.
