Law also voiced Kirito (SAO including the DLC) and Petelgeuse (Re-Zero).
Mahavar voiced Zoro (One Piece).
Boss 1 voiced Kenpachi (Bleach) and Akainu/Don Krieg (One Piece).
Boss 2 voiced Kotomine Kirei (Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero) and Kazuya (Tekken)
Surprisingly, they probably didn't. Japan's VA agencies tend to keep the prices low even for a lot of bigger names. Their whole system runs on set rates that don't fluctuate too much based on the VA.
Unlike the English dubbers. You have to pay huge money for the big names (who aren't even as good as newbie JP VAs), or you save your budget by hiring amateurs like those who dub anime and niche Japanese games.
Very ''overacted anime-ish'' I'd call it.

So I try it myself to see if it's true, and 99% of the time it's bad. I can no longer trust these people's words. Not sure where's the standard for them when it comes to good English dub.
Listen to Law and Rinwell's English dub. If people still say that they're good, then I'll never trust their standards.
Shionne - Her tone keeps changing, it's like the dubber forgot that she supposed to sounded cold all the time. In battle she simply breaks her character with the higher pitch.
Rinwell - Sounded too old.
Law - Too bratty.
Dohalim - Lost all the noble voice & the way he speaks compared to his Japanese voice. He just sounded like a generic guy in English.
Alphen/Kisara - Mediocre/decent at best.
NPCs - All are bad.
I rarely listen to the EN track these days, so I tend to just assume its good by default just for the sake of argument. Kind of surprised the one for this game was much below what I expected.
'Zephyr' is the biggest shame there, but I dont fault them not being able to compare in that instance. In JP that guy carries the performance in every scene he is part of.
Speaking of which, many of the side characters have some epic choices of VA too. Helps a lot to give them personality without needing as much screentime.
While I agree the Japanese voices are certainly better overall, most Japanese dubbing is overacted by default so in a way the English is true to the Japanese to its detriment. They usually have to tone it down a bit because if it was true to the Japanese it would sound utterly ridiculous in English. It's just a difference in style.
The bigger issue is just how inconsistent the voicework is. So much of it was obviously reading from a script without much given context. I'm less inclined to blame the actors themselves but Namco being too cheap to hire someone to properly direct them. That utterly kills voice work no matter the language and sadly most dubbing of Japanese games has this issue.
Yeah, voice direction likely is a large part of it.
I was surprised to hear them as well. They aren't exactly lightweights considering how long they've been in the business already and at which level. Same with the Matsuoka, VA of Law, although he obviously is younger than the other two.
