Hey, about the OS required to play ..
So I'm seeing conflicting opinions online as to whether or not you can play this game on Windows 8.1. System Requirements say only Win 10 on Steam page but a few searches online and apparently it can be played on 8.1 as well.

I want to know if it's possible to play this game on one of my PCs or if I definitely need to install it on my Windows 10 PC. I would like to avoid doing that as my Win 10 PC has a very small SSD and I need the space there. Would be great if this worked on Windows 8.1 since my other PC has plenty of space.

My issue is not the hardware. Only the Operating System here. Everything else I have well above recommended.

You can't just upgrade to Windows 10?

8.1!?!?!?

Why oh why would you stay on 8.1, that was such a trash release....

I hear upgrading causes a lot of headaches. 2 people in my family upgraded and it was so bad they had to completely reinstall win 8.1. It isn't a stright forward upgrade per-se, it's weird and I really don't have time to deal with an OS installation right now as I start work in 5 hours and I need to sleep soon. For reference, one of them had windows completely broken to blue/black screen and the other's windows had massive issues with the entire OS not working properly. That's 2 out of 2 fails, so success rate looks pretty bad. They couldn't even revert back.

Ok inbetween "that's not what I asked" and "thanks for your opinion" I would also like to clarify that every week there's notifications and emails from various forums I am part of, all screaming windows 10 broke yet another thing with their automatic unavoidable updates and patches, users losing their files permanently, etc.. I wouldn't trust that on my gaming pc if you paid me to use it.

So even tho I have Win 10 on one of my PCs because for some reason the software I use only works there. I prefer my gaming PC to stay on win 8.1.

But thanks for your opinion.

They obviously didn't know what they were doing. Anyone who upgrades over a previous os is just asking for trouble... And its not weird either lol

It's sure as hell better than Windows 7, which was just Vista with a candy shell.

Once again people are idiots when it comes to computers...
So does anybody actually know the answer to my question or are you just here to tell me how I should upgrade to win 10 on my gaming pc?

Because that's not gonna happen.

what an incredibly foolish and ignorant statement....

Regardless, the answer is we don't know because 8.1 mainstream support was discontinued 3 years ago....

8.1 loses it's EoL support January 1st, 2023 as well..

So it's really up to developers to test EoL versions of windows and no one is going to know until they try on release.

I'm fairly certain Windows 8.1 will be fine. Windows 8 is where most of the big changes that people attribute to Windows 10 actually happened under the hood.
