it's easy without it.
First they give us fishing very last in game, after three of 5 lords downed.
Then they lock the shield girls 2 or 3 of her things behind it.
Then they over complicate it.
So many steps, buttons and so on.
Fishing is meant to be relaxing. It was and is a huge turnoff in this game.
I think the fishing is fine, but I agree with you that the decision to gate quite a few skills behind it and keeping the player from doing it until around halfway through the game is a highly questionable decision.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't teach it how to fish.
Literally less complex than irl fishing tho
I have fished in real life far easier.
And I discovered many fish ponds in this game beforevable to fish. Didn't know the would be.
Shield girl is hardest to play, between the fish locks and she's also only toon locked behind advanced arena skill as well....
She got the short end of the stick. Ironically she got the best story of growth in game.
Really? in real life you need to worry about rod / hook / bait the weather and so any other factors.
This is way less complex and so easy a monkey could do it.
I went real life fishing a month ago caught a few, as well as did others. Fished as a kid as well, just fine.
Tje whole point of fishing is to relax, take mind off things. In this game they way over complicated it.
As as n example game farming.
Place animal in pen, place feed done. Select all 5 animals get laws 2 skill trees unlocked.
Now compare that with shield girl....
Even compare to hunting owls, no mystery to find and unlock rims. Just find, press A
So did i and so do i......it is more relaxing than fishing irl once a fish gets on the line and fishing irl is a lot more complex.
anyhow relaxing is subjective but irl fishing is so much more complex way more to it than to bait the line and throw it out and fish.
It's not a rhythm game. I have no rhythm and I did it just fine. It probably took me 90 minutes to do the entire quest (obviously spaced out throughout the game). The game tells you which lures to use, how to attract the fish you want, what you've got, etc--it's WAY less than the nightmare I was expecting after, well, so many other JRPGs and their fishing minigames. Only the boss fish are difficult but it's mostly just a matter of luck and not attempting them with a bad rod--I only failed a couple times to catch one and then I immediately re-hooked it and succeeded. If you have terrible reflexes I suppose this is difficult, but then the combat system in general would be difficult.
