The skin looks worse the closer to battle-scarred it is. This is shown by texture fall-off as well as general degredation in colors and sheen.

It describes the paint wear. A battle scarred gun will have almost all of the paintwork scrached and bashed off, whereas a factory new will have pristine, almost untouched paintwork.

Just in case you did not know the order of wear (from best to worse) is: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field Tested, Well Worn, Battle Scarred. :)

The higher the quality, the more worth it is! FYI, if you want to buy a skin, I would suggest buying a minimal wear skin over a factory new, because first of all its cheaper, and the quality difference isn't that much, only 1 or 2 scratches. :) GL

factory new is the best looking skin of its version, and battle scared is indeed the worst version of it, i cant say its worst because some of the battle scared skins looked very nice.

here is the list :
- factory new (FN)
- minimal wear (MW)
- field tested (FT)
- well worn (WW)
- battle scared (BS)

Factory new is a skin that normally looks clean but most of the times there is tiny scratches that usually arent visible such as on doppler and tiger tooth knives.
Minimal wear is a skin that looks a bit clean but has noticeable scratches and depending on the skin, tiny abrasions can appear and usually cut down in price by a lot compared to factory new.
Field tested is a skin that has medium abrasions and numerous abrasions and darkened skin on weapons such as urban masked knives sometimes field tested skins are even cheaper than battle scarred! Sometimes such as on crimson web knives field tested will be a lot cheaper than minimal wears.
Well worn is a skin that has big abrasions with lots of noticeable scratches with the skin darkened by alot but they are probably your best bet when you're looking for a cheap skin. They definitely look better than battle scarred and are only slightly cheaper.
Battle scarred obviously is a skin that looks really scratched and bumped around and darkened, sometimes these skins are more expensive than factory new ones because skins like the p2000 imperial dragon look better for some people in battle scarred

All these people talking about wear values but no one mentioned float numbers... Wow.

Wait, can someone help me out? Do skins get damaged as you use them?
