There doesn't seem to be a hack & slash module list, so I'd advise using the top module lists, checking the detailed descriptions / comments.
An excellent Wizard / Sorceror module is Almraiven, though it's not primarily h&s.
Likewise, Prophet series has some of the best battles - including entire areas that demand strategy and tactics to survive. It has its moments, if you can forgive the half-hours of dreams and philosophy (OK, not literally, but you get the idea).

Another Diablo-like H&S module would be Shadows of Darkmoon, but it's more difficult. No idea how well it plays with a mage, but you could give it a try.
