Integrating PRC and CEP into official campaigns.
I remember doing this ages ago (literally more than a decade), but I can't for the life of me figure it out now.

Has anyone had any success? The PRC is integrated (after moving some files; ez-pz), but the CEP isn't so straightforward, let along merging the two together.

FYI: I have only read the original post... And, I do NOT own NWN:EE. These instructions work for me, with NWN 1.69, PRC 3.5, CEP 2.65. ...It MIGHT work for NWN:EE.

It's very much possible, and I do this all the time. I found this thread because I was wondering if there was an easier way to integrate CEP into the Official Campaign "OC". Alas, I have not found such a way other than manually adding CEP resources.

Why would someone want to do this? Because some people have characters already using resources from these two excellent HAK packs (CEP/PRC), and they wish to use these characters in the OC (because lets face it, the official campaign is pretty good).

Being this post is a few years old (Happy New Years everyone!), I am posting, in case this helps others. This is the gist of what needs to be done:

  1. Install/Extract CEP

  2. Install/Extract the PRC/CEP Merg hak. Which is available from NWN Vault: https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/hakpak/combined/cep-265-prc-35-merge-hak-and-tlk

  3. Run the PRC installer, and select any/all the OC modules you wish to modify. Allow PRC to make backups (it's just a good idea). ~This, is basically what I wish CEP had~

  4. Copy all the OC NWN modules (the modules which were just modified by the PRC installer), into the NWN/modules folder. You will need to rename the suffix of these files from *.nwm to *.mod. Also, you will need to make these files writable (by default they are read-only).

  5. Using the Aurora Toolset, open one of the chapters (preludes including) from the NWN/modules folder, and add the PRC/CEP Merge HAK, and the CEP HAK files. You can do this by clicking: Edit, Module Properties, Custom Content. Using the drop down box, add the following CEP files to the already established list created by the PRC installer, in the following order (if you do NOT see any PRC HAKs, STOP. And figure out when went wrong with the above steps):

    prcccc3 <--- CEP/PRC Merge HAK. Be sure to add this one at the top! prc_2das prc_scripts prc_newspellbook prc_spells prc_epicspells prc_psionics prc_race prc_texture prc_misc prc_craft2das cep2_add_phenos2 cep2_add_phenos1 cep2_add_sb_v1 cep2_core5 cep2_core4 cep2_core3 cep2_core2 cep2_core1

  6. From the same menu, change the Custom Tlk File
    prc_consortium
    to
    prccep2

Once complete, click OK, have a beer (or two, christ sakes this takes a while)... You'll eventually be presented with a finished screen (see my *Note below). Click Done, save the module, and copy that modified file back into the main nwm directory. Note: you will also need to change the file suffix back to *.nwm

*Note: I have found you can click 'Cancel' while it re-builds the module... but I am not sure if that is 100% legit. Seems to work... but if you're after stability, perhaps it's best to let it complete.

Rinse and repeat steps 5 & 6 for each OC module/chapter.

Not knowing exactly what portion of the CEP _you_ want, your list may differ. I grabbed this list from my custom working CEP/PRC Pretty Good Character Creator [neverwintervault.org]
(install the pgc3_v43_cep2.zip version, and run the PRC installer on it, and basically do all the things to this module, that we are doing to the OC modules). So I figure, the above list is the bare minimum. I also highly recommend this module for all your character creation needs. However, and this is getting a little side tracked, if you want a level 1 Psion or other PRC-only character (without having to dual class), you're going to need the PRC Character generator[neverwintervault.org] instead.

CEP is an additional content pack for those fan-made modules that choose to use it (which many do).

There's no obvious way to integrate it into the OC.

For example, CEP has a shed load of new monsters. To get them into the OC, you'd either have to replace some existing monsters, or make some new quests / areas for the new ones. Both options would be major rewrites.

Easier by far to enjoy the CEP in some of the better community offerings:

That isn't answering the question. As I said, I've done it before. I want to play the OCs again with CEP and PRC like I did before. I know that it requires adding the hack packs to the .nwm files, merging tlk, and stuff like that, but I haven't been quite able to get it to work. Of course, I don't have the free time I had when I was 20 either, so I'm hoping someone has gotten this to work and could share how.

For the PRC, I subscribed to this on steam workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1491940917. Following the included instructions, the download includes OC, SoU and HotU modules with included PRC support. Overwriting the originals is all it takes.

As for the CEP, I think what Proleric is saying is that without including CEP features or functionality in their design, the original modules cannot take advantage of it. You would have to play a module that specifically makes use of its features to get any mileage out of it.

The CEP is also on the workshop here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1312882397. Quote from that page: "Content from the CEP does not override default Neverwinter Nights content, nor does it affect modules that don't specifically use the CEP." Since the original campaigns don't use any CEP features there's nothing to integrate.

What I had done in the past is use CEP for cosmetic stuff. I can drop in armor or use an armor changer.

As for that quote you give at the end, I acknowledged that in my opening post. I'm fully away that the CEP download does not include integration.

If you want to merge the CEP you are going to have to go into the toolset and actually rebuild the whole module adding the features you want. There is not quick and simple fix, someone will have to do the work.

There is not a quick fix for this. If you want CEP in the campaigns you or someone else will have to go into the toolset and manually change it and add cep features. Period.

Without a doubt.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thanks, I'll need to try that. I know it's possible because I've done it before, but that was...15 years ago? I've slept since then. Thanks!

That list of haks from CEP does not appear to be 2.65. It looks like IIRC 2.1. CEP 2.65 now has 7 core haks, not 5.

That is not to say it won't work. I don't know if any clothing/armour etc you might want is in core 6 or 7. You may want to add the latest CEP tophak and core 6 or 7 tho if things don't work as you expect.

Have fun :)

@Shia Luck

You're absolutely right, and I came back here to state, my instructions are wrong! Apologies.

I honestly do not know why the module with those haks, and hak-order that I used as my reference _is_ working... But attempting to apply the same to the official campaign left my PRC character quite unable to level up properly. Again, I should have verified before posting instructions, sorry!

Fortunately, trying to solve this has revealed that there is a CEP/PRC installer[neverwintervault.org]. I am using the prc35-cep265.7z. Just follow the readme instructions included within (basically, choose prcc2). No need to use the Aurora Toolset.

I know exactly what you mean, lol. For me it is the rod of fast casting. Sometimes I just cannot get it to work.

Have fun :)

Well... holly crap. I didn't know who you were until I happened re-read an old review about Valine (one of my favorite modders). Reading that old pleasant review, and seeing you listed there at the end, I had to come here and say something!

Pleasure to have... posted with you =D haha

Review [adwr.fandom.com].

A Dance with Rogues was the module that got me into modding myself. Cheers Shia Luck! And thank you for... well helping out the community!
