Rogue build suggestion
Hi folks!

I've finally bought the game, and jeez it's simply a wonderful nostalgia trip. Back in the days I managed to have fun by playing it with simple classes such as the fighter, but now I want to experience it with something more complex.

I loved the rogue in Dragon Age Origins, so I would like to do the main module here with a rogue build. Can you guys give me some advices? I've never played a rogue in D&D before, and if I don't mistake the level cap in this game is lvl 20, so if I screw up with skills and traits the pg becomes a trashy ♥♥♥♥ to play with.
I'm opened to all kind of suggestions, especially for multi classes build. For instance, how do you set up a mage/rogue? Is it something viable?

Thanks mate! I saw your builds are strenght based. I thought Dexterity builds were better, that's why I picked up Weapon Finesse. I've just finished the prologue, and I'm at lvl 3. Have I already screwed up? xD

The second link is a dex based one. You haven't screwed up at all. Dex based Rogues are good at what they do. They do, however, have significant drawbacks in that they struggle with damage against crit and sneak immune, of which there are many. I personally prefer strength based ones in NWN 1, where no "Epic precision" is available.

Here is another really good dex one: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/NWN-Players/discussions/1/143388408895683088/

You're welcome. If anything, the linked builds may at least point you in the right direction and/or give you some ideas. Have fun!

In NWN there is no Feat to increase weapon dmg based off Dex, hence dex weapons (aka weapon finess weapons) still use str for extra dmg.

Yeah, what everyone else said about the strength modifier. In NWN1 I only played rogue with Shadow Dancer in mind, because the Hide in Plain Sight feat lets you get sneak attacks almost constantly. This is nerfed on almost every PW though, for good reason.

That being said, pure rogues are the absolute best archers in my opinion, because of sneak attack.

Oh, wait! But if you're looking for a new class to play that's comparable to the fighter experience you had before, I would recommend making a regular cleric. You get all the usual combat benefits, plus an easy introduction to magic, without having to worry about negative armor modifiers.

Oh, Dragon Age Origins was the original. I was thinking of Inquisition, because I hated the last one. Origins was ok but I never played it because of other stuff. I only got to the witch in the woods some babe joins up with us and we go off to some village.

There are an insane amount of multiclass builds at: http://www.mwmdragon.com/worldofamon/builds/buildindex.html

For Rogues, their main strengths are lots of skill points, the Evasion ability and Sneak Attack damage.

Their weaknesses are mediocre BAB and AB bonuses, no built-in way to generate Sneak Attacks and Sneak Attacks not working on creatures like undead and constructs.

I would suggest going Rogue/Cleric and learn the Extend Spell feat early on. The Divine Power spell at Cleric 7 gives an extra attack. Bless, Aid and Divine Favor will boost your AB. Darkness with Ultravision will blind enemies for free Sneak Attacks. Darkfire is another nice weapon buff to get more damage. These are all available within 5 levels of Cleric and 14 points of Wisdom, though I'd say get 6 to 8 Cleric levels before level 20.

With 16 Wisdom and level 11 Cleric you'll be able to healbomb undead too. 12 or 15 Cleric are nice stopping levels for a level 40 build. 12 rounds out Divine Favor, 15 maxes Divine Favor and gives you AoE healbombs.

For a 3rd class, round it out with Champion of Torm to get feats and saves. The CoT feats can go to Knockdown, Improved Two Weapon Fighting or Improved Critical.

Might as well go monk rather than CoT, you'll get ikd for free, a load of wisdom AC, speed and better apr if you go unnarmed or use a kama.

60% favored class penalty though. For a lv40 fast levelling server it'd be good, for the campaign the moment you dip into the 3rd class your exp just keels over and dies.
