Roaches
Hi all,

I have a severe phobia or cockroaches that has unfortunately stopped me from enjoying this title to the fullest. Is there a way to remove the roaches from the game, either through a mod or a console command?

Thanks.

Ok, I found a fix (Sorta) This may cause extreme problems. You copy a small thing such as the bullsquid model, and rename it "roach.mdl" after removing the file "roach.mdl" from your "steamapps/common/half life/valve/models" section and putting it somewhere safe like a flash drive. This may cause problems, but if it works properly, the roaches will look like bullsquids or whatevers you made them look like.

You could also reskin them to be bright pink or something if that would help your problem.

I am really sorry that you have to go through this. These may be to hard if you are inexpirienced at directory stuff. Hope This helps.

I know what you're feeling bro. I'm afraid of spiders, so I have problem with headcrabs. Especially in claustrophobic spaces. I'm playing this game for first time.
headcrabs make me jump every time

and i get a skhiver when i see them..

Thanks guys, I'll try some of these. Strange, isn't it, all the creepy-on-purpose stuff in the game and this is what ends up creeping me out. Oh well. Phobias, by definition, don't make sense.

I know, Barthez2k, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine game me my arachnophobia.

Cheers.

I really don't know anything about VAC bans, but I feel like I should at least throw the idea out there that you might want to be careful about modifying game files.

I guess it would really only be a danger if you played HL online on a VAC secured server. But like I said, I really don't know. Just be careful.

I don't really play online with HL. Thanks, though.

The only way you can get banned for modifying the game files is if you modified the dlls or used a cheat program to modify the game's memory.

Changing model, texture, sound, etc will never get you banned.
